Kernel: Linux 6.1.23 (based on the work from MDRJR)

What is Jelos?
Just Enough Linux Operating System (JELOS) is an immutable Linux distribution for handheld gaming devices developed by a small community of enthusiasts. Our goal is to produce an operating system that has the features and capabilities that we need, and to have fun as we develop it.

Flashing instructions:
*Boot the device into eMMC recovery mode:
-Stock OS: Hold R2 + L2 then power on the device
-Recovery SD card: https://wiki.odroid.com/odroid_go_ultra ... overy_emmc
*Connect the device to your computer via the USB C port.
*Flash the S922X img to the device via your preferred method and reboot.

General tips / information:

• Wifi/BT: USB dongles with the following wifi chipsets should work: RTL8188EU RTL8188FU RTL8192CU RTL8192EU RTL8812AU RTL8814AU RTL8821AU RTL8821CU RTL88x2BU

• SD Card format: exfat, fat32, or ext4. Jelos will make all of the system folders on the root of the sd card the first time you power on the system with a freshly formatted sd card.

• CPU governor can be set at the system, core/emulator, and game level. Enable Performance for demanding games / systems and Powersave for less demanding games. This will affect battery life. GPU speed is also tied to the default CPU governor.

• SSH/SMB: Connect to a wifi network and enable SSH & Samba. Also set your root password and turn off rotate root password in system settings, the username is root. The default hostname is S922X, this can be changed in network settings.

• You will be notified when a new OTA update is available if connected to wifi + internet, click yes to update to the latest release.

• Press Select + Start + L1 to exit standalone emulators (Dolphin, AetherSX2, Citra, etc)

• The root file system of Jelos is immutable (read only). Files can only be written to the user directory and SD card.

Format your sd card as fat32, exfat, or ext4. Then boot the device with your sd card in it. All of the various system folders will get auto populated and then you can copy your games over to the correct system folder from your computer.

You can also copy games over ftp or smb if you set up Wi-Fi on your ogu.

I have see an Folder with the name Switch, the rom is on sd card but i dont see it.

Sorry no Switch games on the OGU. That folder is created for Jelos devices with a x86 cpu. The top end for the OGU w/ Jelos is currently Gamecube/Wii & PS2. Possibly add 3ds support at some point.

i have a new question. How i can play Gamecube. I have a rom on sd card but not start. do I just have to copy the BIOS files to the BIOS folder?

Gamecube does not require a bios. There is probably an issue with your rom but hard to know with out logs. Please review /var/log/exec.log over ssh or .logs/exec.log over smb.

So far its an amazing Image, 1 issue... I cant get Saturn Roms to run. I added BIOS files (not sure if it was the correct place) and the Emulator does list my .chd files. But they wont run

Flashing the Stock ROM to verify the speaker didn't get damaged somehow. I really like this image I'm hoping i can get the audio to work

Edit: Audio works in other images, doesn't work in JelOS

Sounds like we still need to fix the audio init on a fresh install, apparently only working for some people.

If you run the following command over ssh it should fix the audio.

Should I wait for OTA?

I tried it with several flash programs but no chance. None shows storage.

Next release will restore access to recovery mode via holding r2 + l2 at boot & hopefully resolve the no audio issue some people have been having.

I'll post here when available.

And you made sure to press the reset button while booting/powering on? I think the instructions say recovery switch.

Delete the aethersx2 folder at /storage/.config/aethersx2 or over smb config/aethersx2

The config file is incorrectly set to alsa. It should be blank.

edit: you can even do that right on the device now that filemanager is working

Yes, i have added the audio fix to our repo and it is working much better. Night and day!

We should be releasing a public build with this fix in the next couple days.

Hey, just newbie with Odroid (have it one week), and really love to JELOS, but have one minor bug, when I plug my headset into 3,5jack sound is still going from main speaker and I didn't find any settings to bring alive headset. My wife is getting bit angry with old computer noises. Any suggestions?

Yes we are of this issue and will work on a fix in the future. Hopefully it can be done automatically but might have to add an ES toggle.

If you have the know how you can manually change the output by sshing into the device and running alsamixer.

If you download the latest update there is now an Emulation Station option to enable the 3.5mm headphone jack (and disable the onboard speaker).

Press Start -> Sound Settings -> Enable Headphone Jack

Anybody else having issues with freezes? I've had freezes in GBA games and DS games, using the default emulators. The hotkey stop responding and my only recourse is to hold the power button to force a shutdown.

I have re-flashed the image, and I am running the latest, installing each update more-or-less daily since April 9th. Just happened again on the May 2 build so I figured I would ask.

Switch the video render to OpenGL in emulation station for that game. Maybe need to do for other games as well.

Jelos now supports Portmaster. Launch from the tools section in Emulation Station.

Game support is hit or miss due to the video drivers. Some games might need additional tweaking.

As derFunkenstein stated I am getting freezing also. both in games and in system menus. It seems to be more frequent when the system is under heavier load. Is there a crash log somewhere I can extract and upload?

hmm a few weeks back I released a image with lower base clocks to help save battery, wonder if thats causing the issue. I will do some research.

Thanks for investigating! Just wanted to +1 on the freezing. Just happened to me playing Kirby's adventure, and had happened before with a couple other games, didn't think it was related to the OS until I saw the messages. I'm on the 20230430 build

Well the clock speed changes weren’t added until early May so doesn’t seem to be related if you are still on a late April build.
