ODROID XU4 black screen

Post by TakiEddine »

I was prompted with upgrading my ODROID-XU4 from Ubuntu 18.04 to 20.04 in Ubuntu software. When I clicked download, the repositories were updated to the focal version. Through an ssh session, I performed sudo apt upgrade, so that the packages were downloaded and it looks like the system started upgrading. Unfortunately, the operation was interrupted at 22% and the ODROID rebooted. After that, the device can no more log into Ubuntu and the white cursor keeps blinking in a black screen along with the blue LED on my board. What is your advice for resolving this issue?

It is very hard to know why the upgrade process was interrupted and stopped at uncertain blinking cursor remotely. Sorry about that.

Connect your eMMC or SD card to your host Linux PC and backup important data first.
And freshly install this latest image with Etcher.

Once 20.04 image boots, manually update the uboot if you use an eMMC.

Code: Select all

sudo apt install --reinstall uboot
sudo reboot
