Linaro Ubuntu 12.11 and Edimax ew-7811Un

Unread post by battlecattle » Wed Mar 26, 2014 11:20 pm

Everything installed and I updated via ethernet just perfectly. Now I am trying to get my Edimax ew-7811Un to work without any luck. I am following this guide http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1744371 and when I use the 'make' command I get this.

make ARCH=armv7l CROSS_COMPILE= -C /lib/modules/3.0.75-robroyhall-odroidu2/build M=/home/linaro/Downloads/RTL8188C_8192C_USB_linux_v4.0.2_9000.20130911/driver/rtl8188C_8192C_usb_linux_v4.0.2_9000.20130911 modules
make: *** /lib/modules/3.0.75-robroyhall-odroidu2/build: No such file or directory. Stop.
make: *** [modules] Error 2

any ideas how I can get this to work?

the error means it can't find the sources...
it's trying to compile it's drivers against the kernel. Normally you have kernel-headers for such things, which are simply not included for most Kernels provided by HardKernel.
Donate to support my work on the ODROID GameStation Turbo Image for U2/U3 XU3/XU4 X2 X C1 as well as many other releases.
Check out the Games and Emulators section to find some of my work or check the files in my repository to find the software i build for ODROIDs.
If you want to add my repository to your image read my HOWTO integrate my repo into your image.

Is that something I should just abandon for one that works?

Use the kernel cross-compilation guide found at http://odroid.us/mediawiki/index.php?ti ... g_a_Kernel

Hi battlecattle, I'm in the exact same boat as you; did you have any luck getting it to work?

Same problem here. What needs to be done for the ODROID XU$ to work with the Edimax EW 7811UN WiFi USB dongle?
Using ubuntu-16.04.3-4.9-mate-odroid-xu4-20170824 image with the system fully updated.

Thanks!
