HK USB-IO with I2C 32x24 camera

Post by liatoss » Mon May 18, 2020 9:28 pm

Hello Guys,
Can someone help us with the followings:
1) We user HK USB-IO to connect MLX90640 I2C thermal camera module;
2) With reverse engineering we got the system working on Android - fully rewritten low level interaction with I2C thermal camera via USB;
3) But due to method of read by byte, the overall time to read all camera frame (~1668 bytes) takes up to 5 secs. Is there any method for group reading of bytes?
4) By default, current firmware set on 400KHz frequency, which potentially gives up to 8fps. If one set the frequency in 1MHz, we can reach 32fps. Can you provide any method which can increase the internal clock frequency of the micro-controller?
5) We are trying to compile the firmware source code but the compiler you used to use is not available for download any more, and new compiler gets to many error. Is there any way to update the firmware source code for currently available compiler?

Thx you for any hint / advise, Vlad.

Just to give you update:
  • I modified the original firmware and add i2c_bulk_read
It works like a charm!

Just one small question, the MLX camera can work much faster (32fps) if I2C bus clock set to 1MHz, is it possible with HK USB-IO?

Thx, Vlad.

I read the datasheet. It seems to be unable to change I2C clock to 1MHz
