Please forgive my Linux ignorance...

I am setting up cs2, and my drives will not format. i get the error below.
(thanks in advance.)
root@odroid:/home/odroid# dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda bs=512 count=1
1+0 records in
1+0 records out
512 bytes copied, 0.000192245 s, 2.7 MB/s
root@odroid:/home/odroid# mkfs.ext4 /dev/sda
mke2fs 1.44.1 (24-Mar-2018)
mkfs.ext4: Device size reported to be zero. Invalid partition specified, or
partition table wasn't reread after running fdisk, due to
a modified partition being busy and in use. You may need to reboot
to re-read your partition table.

You only can format a partition (f.e. /dev/sda1), not the disk itself (/dev/sda). fdisk -l /dev/sda will show you a list with the partitions on your disk. If there's no entry, you have to create a partition first. See here how you can do this.
After that you can format the new partition – for example mkfs.ext4 /dev/sda1, where sda1 ist the new (first) partition on your disk.

Thank you, I will read through that tomorrow. I was trying to follow the step-by-step in the wiki, but must have missed or misunderstood something.

Thanks again.
