Unread post by HHanzo » Fri Mar 20, 2020 1:55 pm

I'm using EmuElec and even the right shoulder switch button is soldered it doesn't make register or detecting, is a soldering problem or firmware problem?

Hi @HHanzo,

[1]
To check if there is a HW issue of the switch, can you check the following if you can access OGA via ssh?

Code: Select all

$ sudo apt install evtest -y
$ evtest /dev/input/event2
If there is no hw issue, you will have these logs when you push right shoulder button.

Code: Select all

Event: time 1584686890.320456, type 1 (EV_KEY), code 311 (BTN_TR), value 1
Event: time 1584686890.320456, -------------- SYN_REPORT ------------
Event: time 1584686890.492439, type 1 (EV_KEY), code 311 (BTN_TR), value 0
Event: time 1584686890.492439, -------------- SYN_REPORT ------------
Event: time 1584686890.728402, type 1 (EV_KEY), code 311 (BTN_TR), value 1
Event: time 1584686890.728402, -------------- SYN_REPORT ------------
Event: time 1584686890.880381, type 1 (EV_KEY), code 311 (BTN_TR), value 0
Event: time 1584686890.880381, -------------- SYN_REPORT ------------
Actually, I have no idea that it's available to install and test evtest on EmuElec.
So to narrow down the root cause, please try hardkernel stock image, v1.1 for this test.
https://wiki.odroid.com/odroid_go_advan ... ntu_es#v11

[2]
Or there is another test option using "ODROID Autotest" without OS.

1. Remove SD card from OGA.
2. Press both of [Right shoulder button] and [Left shoulder button]
3. Keep [2] state and press power button simultaneously.

Then, you will see GPIO Test menu of Auto test on LCD display, if you have no HW issue of right shoulder button.

If you get any better result from aforementioned two kinds of tests,
please check assembly status of shoulder buttons again.

R shoulder even as a naked switch it doesn't registered in the odroid go advance button configuration
Hi @HHanzo,
Sorry. I can't fully understand what result you got for button test. :?:
Have you tried "Autotest - Key Test" with naked switch condition?

(1)
Do you mean you got OK from the aforementioned basic key test, especially "Auto Test", but you can't REGISTER the right shoulder button from key registration menu?
=> HW connection OK
=> Key registration Fail on os level
If you got this result, please try hardkernel stock image, v1.1 for this test, first.
By default, right shoulder button (BTN_TR) is already registered without any key registration process.
And I think EmuElec OS must be same. :roll:

(2)
Or using the basic test, you also got FAIL?
=> HW connection Fail
If you got this result, could you wait until coming Monday (tomorrow)?
Then, will discuss more about which point we should check.

@HHanzo,
Ah.. I see.
Maybe you got fail from key basic test.

Could you wait until tomorrow?
Then, let's check more about HW point with other members.

I tested the right shoulder button naked in emuelec in control configuration and it doesn't have a confirmation,
even without OS I can't enter the test menu, I'll try use hardkernele 1.1

Can you show us a picture of the right shoulder button?
Let's check how you re-soldered the button to the PCB.

Could you feel any clicking sound when you pressed the SW16 button?
Do you have a DMM to measure the resistance of the SW16?

Your pictures are too blurry. Try taking a macro shot of the SW16 to find any possible mechanical damages.

Photos are much better and the switch looks fine.

Yes

Do you have a DMM to measure the resistance of the SW16?
No,but I think the soldering isn't strong yet, I'll resolder it with a hot needle

If you can use a DMM, measure the resistance between TP19 and the USB host port metal frame.
When you press the SW16 button, the resistance value should be near 0 ohm.

BTW, where/when did you buy your OGA?
