Instruction for KVM on Ubuntu Mate 18.04. for dumb beginner

Unread post by Sviii » Tue Mar 10, 2020 12:36 am

Hi guys!
Who can show the normal instructions for configuring KVM on the official image of ubuntu-18.04.3-4.14-mate-odroid-xu4-20190929
The official installation / setup instructions do not help. https://wiki.odroid.com/odroid-xu4/appl ... ftware/kvm

Filled on emmc/microsd (both work) the image of ubuntu-18.04.3-4.14-mate-odroid-xu4-20190929 through BalenaEtcher.
The system starts up. All is well.
updated.
I start the installation according to the official instructions, but on the item:
$ sudo make modules_install
writes an error: cp: cannot stat "arch/arm/crypto/"different files". No such file or directory

7 times re-upload the image on emmc and repeat the steps:
6 times the same error on "sudo make modules_install"
1 time $ sudo make modules_install passed without errors.
But a similar error occurred on the following point: sudo cp arch arm/boot/zImage/media/boot/zImage_kvm (cp: cannot stat. No such file or directory)

Help! Give a link to the normal instructions for a dumb beginner like me, or image with an already configured OS with KVM.

And what does it mean in the description of the ubuntu-18.04.3-4.14-mate-odroid-xu4-2019092 image the phrase "KVM feature is ready to run".
I do not understand.

Running:
Linux odroid 4.14.165-172 #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed Jan 15 20:20:27 -03 2020 armv7l armv7l armv7l GNU/Linux

It means you don't need to recompile the kernel to get kvm functionality.

I have the same problem.

Latest Ubuntu odroid XU4 18.04 image.

I modified the boot.ini for the correct kvm dtb file but still no sign of kvm in the dmesg after booting. Implying no kvm in the kernel. However, if I try to build the kernel with kvm I get the same issues as the OP.

So something is missing somewhere!

This is the MATE 18.04 build from September last year.

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Added: Linux odroid 4.14.173-173 #1 SMP PREEMPT Mon Mar 16 17:08:14 -03 2020 armv7l armv7l armv7l GNU/Linux
