[SOLVED] Petiboot No longer shows my USB SSD boot drive

Unread post by superpowter77 » Sat Feb 15, 2020 12:07 am

Thus unable to boot ubuntu 18.04 LTS.
Petiboot version: 20190705
Under system information it shows my sd1 drive(Corsair MX500 SSD connected via usb adapter) directly to one of the USB 3.0 ports of My N2. There are No other devices connected to any of the remaining USB 3.0 ports

Under system status log it shows my sd1 drive being properly recognized
Under system information it shows my sd1 properly detected as well
However, only my microsd card boot (Coreelec) is currently showing in petiboot main menu
If I hit enter or just wait 10 seconds it loads up to coreelec, no sd1 is shown on petiboot menu anymore
I already tried forcing it to boot from sd1 but nothing happens.
I need some help here.

Please update your Petitboot with the last stable version 20191127,
https://wiki.odroid.com/odroid-n2/os_im ... ev20191127

And try to boot with your USB SDD, if it still does not show you the boot entry for the Ubuntu on it then please do run this command uboot-parser in the shell prompt of the Petitboot and let me know how it gives you.

I updated Petiboot to latest version, nice logo and screen resolution issue with my Tv has been finally fixed. Still does Not recognized my USB SSD Drive.

Thank you so much for such prompt assistance. Just found out my overpriced startech USB 3.1 to SATA adapter cable went bad after only 4 months of use. I tried a new cheap generic usb SATA adapter and it's working, only losing like 10% read/write performance with my generic replacement until my RMA replacement cable arrive. Problem Solved. You guys are the best.

Please do run lsusb in the command shell after booting Petitboot and see if it shows you your USB SSD, and check if you have an output with ls -l /dev/sd*. If you do not have none for those commands, your USB SSD is not physically recognized by Petitboot. Possible reason is that USB ports are defected, since you have CoreELEC on SD card, please do boot up CoreELEC and check if you can access your USB SSD from it. Please let me know.

Thank you again. No need for that. It was my USB 3.0 to SATA adapter that just became defective. Working like a charm again!
