Development Tools

Unread post by AreaScout » Sun Jan 12, 2020 8:54 pm

    Hi all

      I did a modification to the well known PuTTY tool, nothing special but it can come very handy if you follow a tutorial from a webpage who is behind the PuTTY window, so I added configurable window transparency :) There is one tool out in the wild who's name is KiTTY which also provides window transparency but it is not solved so practically like I do :D So if you are configure your ODROID's from Windows then this is probably what you are searching for.

      DOWNLOAD putty.exe

      P.S.: I posted this already in the General section of the forum but I think one who couldn't find this yet, still may find it useful :ugeek:

      RG and have fun

        You are lucky, in my job I had to use Windows, Linux and macOS, that's what our customers are using out in the field and so we had to use them also, we also had some UNIX derivatives and HP/UX out in the field, it's more and more complicated nowadays.

          I totally quit using it after Windows 7, I still have 7 on my laptop in case I need it but I never do.

          I can understand using it at work, long ago when I worked for an ISP we had simulators for various OS.

          I'm so glad to be using OSX at work after decades of being forced to use Windows.

            @all

            I like them all but I would never change Windows or macOS for daily office work agains Linux, Linux is strong on servers and embedded devices, Windows is typical GUI driven OS, beautiful and easy, this is probably what you will give your secretary as office PC if you don't want to send an employee for computer training, macOS also has a very beautiful GUI, easy to work with and has really really fantastic software for it. This are my two cents to Operating Systems, I am very open as you can see.

            Looks great. Putty is one of the best terminal programs for Windows even in nowadays.
            Would be the blur effect the next step? ;)
            Just for me :), when I use Putty on Windows, I was looking for a terminal program supporting transparent and blur effect. But at that time there was no like that one. I think macOS is the best at these effects.

              @joshua.yang

              I can only support visual effects exposed by the windows C/C++ API, blur is part of some desktop visuals in Windows 10 but I don't know if this is available in the C/C++ API, looks like a future project :)

              RG and thanks for the tip
