Boot stucked at "started journal Service"

I have 3 Odroid-C2 boards with the same problem on boot. Boot stops when reaches at "Started Journal Service". All boot sequence:

One of them presents the problem since first boot but the other 2 boards worked fine for some days and then suddenly shows this message on boot.
In the 3 cases I've reflashed the eMMC and I've used a new eMMC but the problem presists.

Any idea?

Did you gracefully turn off the system with "poweroff" or "shutdown" command?

If you disconnected the power cable while the system was running several times, the root file system in the eMMC could be corrupted too much and Journalling couldn't fix the EXT4 partiton.
Or weak/unstable power supply could caused the issue too.

Ok, but if I change the emmc with a new one (clean image) the problem persists! Could it be a hardware problem?

I don't think all of three C2 boards have hardware problem.

Let's try to narrow down root causes.

I'm using your 5V/4A (XU4 power supply) power supply using the J8 pins.
I've already removed J1 jumper.

I've made some tests and I've found something strange:

I'm using my own image based on your v3.1 image version. My image have some extra packages already installed (Mysql, php, apache, opencv, rtc-shield enabled). This image works fine on all boards (hundreds of them) except these 3 boards. But If I use your original v3.1 image then these 3 boards boots ok.

Do you have any idea about that?

Very strange and weird.

A few things to try.
- run fsck your eMMC
- check lsmod output and add some unused modules in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-odroid.conf to trace any possible hardware problem.

Do you use 3.5inch LCD shield too? Which devices are connected to the 40pin header and USB port?

I only have the RTC_Shield connected to 40 pin port. I've never used the 3.5inch LCD Shield.

RTC_Shield was the problem!

For this reason, if I used the original image, which does not have the RTC_shield module loaded, the board would boot up correctly but when I used my image which already had the RTC_shield module installed it would not work. By changing the RTC_Shield HW worked. So, if the system has the RTC_shield module set up and boots without the RTC_Shield HW or the RTC_Shiled HW has some problem, then the boot process is stopped, I guess waiting for a response from the stack.
