USB issue with FTDI device

Unread post by HAMDV » Wed Dec 04, 2019 8:26 am

I have modem software that works fine on my XU4 USB2.0 port, however on N2, I get the software log error, 'Cannot open device' ;

E: 2019-12-03 23:09:13: Cannot open device - /dev/ttyUSB0
E: 2019-12-03 23:09:13: Cannot open the D-Star modem

dmesg ;

[ 637.577902] usb 1-2: Product: FT232R USB UART
[ 637.593826] ftdi_sio 1-2:1.0: FTDI USB Serial Device converter detected
[ 637.602118] usb 1-2: FTDI USB Serial Device converter now attached to ttyUSB0

Also I tried the OTG usb port with same result, /dev/.ttyUSB0 established, but no device connection.
I put back to XU4 USB2.0 and no issue ? What is the group owning usb ?

I think the Kernel driver configuration is fine.
Is it a permission or group issue? What happens if you run your software with "sudo"?
Compare outputs of ls -alp /dev/ttyUSB0 between N2 and XU4.

You might need to modify the udev rules to access the node with a normal user.

You can use the OTG micro-USB port on the N2 with an adapter cable something like this for USB 2.0 interface.
