no wifi or BT

Unread post by JustSumDad » Tue Dec 03, 2019 8:02 am

So my project will require use of all the USB ports and more due to the lack of Wifi and BT on the N2 I will loose two right off the go.

Is there a way to use the OTG port for Wifi or BT?

Can I adapt the system console UART to use a serial GPS in Android?

Thanx
God I wish I could write apps!

If needed you can use the OTG port for any usb device as long as you have an OTG to type A USB adapter. These adapters are usually fairly cheap, and easy to find online.

There is also a serial connection available on the GPIO pins(I believe pins 8 and 10) if you have a module that can communicate that way. I have seen Bluetooth and GPS modules for the I2C and SPI buses as well which are also available on the GPIO pin header.

As for working this all out with android, maybe somebody else can give you some advice/help there since I don't know much about working with Android.

Thanx, I have my serial GPS working on my RPi3 in raspian but I have decided that I want an android solution for the final product, I bet the serial GPS would be just as easy with debian etc on the N2 but I have no idea how to do it under Android :)
live and learn! I will ask that question in the android section...
