Big APP Screen

Post by esilva »

Hi guys,

I'm trying to make a huge screen to show our APP in a event. The APP should work on a 46inches TV.

I bought the infrared touch screen to add to the tv:
https://pt.aliexpress.com/item/32811287 ... b90atkyruE

Our APP works on Android, has videos, needs sound and Wi-FI to stream the videos.

I purchased Raspberry PI 4, but today I found out this was a bad choice.

I watched a video saying that ODROID-XU4 could be the best choice.

Can you guys help me on this?

Thanks,
Silva,

If you can control your app with a mouse you can skip the touchscreen setup.

This is great! I'm thinking of buying Android N2 then, at ameridroid. What do you guys think?

Still trying to figure out the best place to buy with delivery in Brazil.

Ameridroid, I already have it on my basket on your site. Trying to figure if I need this model and also the tax in Brazil for the product. The tax is calculated summing the product + shipping. Usually 60% for import fees plus other fees on top of it. Absurd.

I need an Odroid to display an APP like Redbull video APP on a 46" TV. We could consider a "heavy" APP because it will play videos and also loads a lof of images and app functionalities like playlists and stuff.

If the app needs drm, it may not work on Odroid. Let us know if it's a public app, maybe someone can test it.

It's a public APP: http://bit.ly/2OGOnh0

If someone could test it I'd be very grateful! :-)

@mad_ady I think N2 might be to powerfull for what I need. Although it's a 46 inches TV.

C1 or C2 should be fine for Android. I don't have an android running odroid to test your app for drm, though...
But with the savings do yourself a favor and get an emmc instead of sd.

Are you using a touchscreen TV? Or do you have some other way of controlling Android on that screen?

The size of the TV does not matter. Just the resolution. Is it 1080p (HD) or 4K, or something else?

Even if it's 4k the android surface is limited to 1080p. Only video can be rendered in 4k.

Hi @mad_ady,

What I understand, I need to buy:

1) ODROID-XU4 (https://www.hardkernel.com/shop/odroid- ... ial-price/)
2) Power Supply (https://www.hardkernel.com/shop/5v-4a-p ... eu-plug-2/)
3) Case (https://www.hardkernel.com/shop/odroid-xu4-case-clear/)
4) eMMC (https://www.hardkernel.com/shop/32gb-em ... xu4-linux/)
5) eMMC adaptor (https://www.hardkernel.com/shop/usb3-0- ... le-writer/);
6) WiFi module (https://www.hardkernel.com/shop/wifi-module-5a/);

What do you think?

I have the HDMI cable to connect to the TV.

Thanks,
Edgard.

Looks good.
Instead of the emmc usb writer (which is great to have if you have more than one emmc, or do lots of writes) you could get the emmc to microsd adapter instead and use a third party microsd to usb adapter when writing images. With the savings you make you could also get a usb-serial adapter. You won't need it unless there are weird stability issues with your setup, and then it will be vital.
On the other hand, getting the emmc-usb adapter allows you to repurpose the emmc and build a very fast usb3 stick :D

If you need BT (e.g. a mouse or controller), consider getting the HK adapter so it works out of the box.
