HC2 dead?

Post by d4ve »

I've got three HC2s that have been running happily for around a year. I recently moved, and one of them no longer powers on, no LEDs, nothing. I tried swapping the power supplies around (12V, 2A) form the other two units, and the dead unit still wouldn't boot. I've also tried swapping the SD cards from the working units, and that doesn't seem to make a difference either. I also have the USB-UART serial adapter, and I don't see any signs of booting when I connect that (it works fine, and I get the terminal console on the other two HC2s).

Any suggestions for things to try? The board looks fine, and I don't think there is any physical damage. Or do I have a totally dead unit? :(

Thanks

Sounds like the power regulator on board died. On XU4 you could bypass it; not sure if it can be done on HC2 since power circuitry differs...

If you have a DMM, check the input power path with the schematics page 21.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. Is this a common issue?

Not really, no. But it can happen on power spikes

Hello there. Any updates on this? My HC2 dropped dead on me today and I don't use it that much. Checked the voltage on the adapter and it all works like it should. I
