Checksum error when I choose Firmware

Unread post by MCH » Tue Oct 01, 2019 11:12 pm

Hello together,

I assemble my ODRIOD GO Rev. 0.1.20180807.

I try to get in the firmware menu with pressing and switch on the power supply.
This works great. But if I want to choose go-play or micropython, I get the message

Code: Select all

"checksum mismatch error"
The blue LED is blinking quickly.

In the last row of the screen:

Code: Select all

 Ver: 20181001-ba31df7503
In the first row:

Code: Select all

 Go-Play <20180810>
To fix the problem I tried to update the firmware. Im using Windows 10. I install the flashtool (flash_download_tools_v3.6.7.exe) from the espressif-site under the support section.
I used ESP32 with parameter: 40 MHZ, DIO, 128Mbit, Do not change bin, 921600 Baud

In my opinon the flash works. But I get the same error message as before.

How can I fix this problem?

Regards

Marc

A checksum error indicates a problem reading the contents of the .fw file. Try erasing and re-downloading it. If the problem persists, try a different brand of SD card.

Hello,

I tried a new SDHC card 8GB from Intensio (before 8GB from transcend) but the error still persists.
I am using Windows 10 for the installing the Odroid Go and it works after the assembling but after going to this firmware menu I always get the checksum mismatch error.

Try to generate a MD5 or SHA1 checksum of the 'Go-Play.fw' that is on the SD card. (I don't use Windows so I can not offer specific instructions. An internet search should provide more details.)

The following are the expected checksums:

Code: Select all

MD5: 104c9553b7937656c8669708e0ddbaff Go-Play.fw
SHA1: 4cea7c3464c48b8e6633f8fbe8cdee093492706d Go-Play.fw
If the checksums do not match, the downloaded file is corrupted.

Hello crashoverride,

the hint with the checksum has helped. The firmwarefiles (*.fw) werde older ones - deliveed with the skeleton archive for preparing the sd card. Both sd card works fine now.
My fault was that I accidently copied always the older files. When I downloaded a MD5 tool from the internet to check the checksum, I found out that I have downloaded the right files but copied the wrong files.

One question: where did you find the checksum, so I can verify any download later?

kind regards and thank you for help

The checksums were manually generated on linux using the md5sum and sha1sum commands. There are no automatic checksums that I know of on github.
