File transfer over USB fails

Post by Vasant »

Hi,

I am having problems with basic file transfer when the source of the file in on a USB stick. Although this is done via an Android application.
The issue is more at the SOC or kernel level. That is why I am reporting it here.
I am running Android with the latest update installed on a Samsung 32GB sdcard. The Android application copies a large 1.3GB file either from /sdcard/Download (which is on sdcard)
or from /storage/54FD-1C68 ( which is a USB 2.0 stick). In the later case the file gets corrupted. The dmesg command shows lot of USB errors.

usb 1-1.4: reset high-speed USB device number 9 using xhci-hcd
[ 1151.251529] usb 1-1.4: device descriptor read/all, error -110
[ 1151.355513] usb 1-1.4: reset high-speed USB device number 9 using xhci-hcd
[ 1156.475515] usb 1-1.4: device descriptor read/64, error -110
[ 1156.475712] usb 1-1.4: Device no response
[ 1172.091529] usb 1-1.4: device descriptor read/64, error -110
[ 1172.091728] usb 1-1.4: Device no response
[ 1172.307532] usb 1-1.4: reset high-speed USB device number 9 using xhci-hcd
[ 1177.363537] usb 1-1.4: device descriptor read/8, error -110
[ 1182.739538] usb 1-1.4: device descriptor read/8, error -110

In effect my applications doesn't work on ODROID-N2 in some cases. The same app has no issues on ODROID-C2.

Hi.
Please check topics in: viewforum.php?f=181

Basically there were a lot of USB issues on N2, and they seem to be (hopefully) fixed with the newest kernel. There is a lot of positive feedback from users regarding the kernel version with fixes.

I think, the Android images which you're currently using will be updated with a delay. I don't know how fast Hardkernel releases Android updates, but it for sure will take a bit of time. Hopefully someone from Hardkernel can provide you this information.

The patch for USB issue has been merged into the Android kernel branch internally, but update version is not released yet. The update would happen late this week or next week. Let me confirm if kernel update only can happen if the new release is postponed.

Ok, I am back to this again. I have downloaded this update and copied it to /sdcard/Download.
I bring up ordoid-settings -> update -> from downloaded package. I see the update package zip click on it and then Odroid Settings crashed.
Not sure what the right procedure is.
