Unstable performance with Odroid WiFi Module 0

Unread post by platisd » Sat Sep 07, 2019 8:42 pm

After compiling AOSP from source with minor changes to the `s922_9.0.0_20190820` baseline (basically just added a HIDL service and a client in the framework) I don't seem to be able to get WiFi Module 0 to work reliably.

Specifically, I have seen inconsistencies with getting (re)connected to WiFi, scanning new networks and maintaining connection to the WiFi. In regards to maintaining the connection, after a reboot the device typically manages to establish a WiFi connection and reach the Internet. However, a couple of minutes later the connection is lost and I can see the following messages being spammed on `dmesg`:

Code: Select all

[ 167.844330] ieee80211 phy0: rt2x00usb_vendor_request: Error - Vendor Request 0x07 failed for offset 0x0500 with error -110
Nothing on `logcat -b crash`. Any ideas?

Any input on this? I still cannot practically use WiFi on Odroid N2. :(

Does it work well with the official image?
Can you try with the dongle on the usb otg port?

There are issues with USB on N2. That is what you are probably running into.

I didn't try the official image yet, but it looks like just using the USB OTG port fixes the instabilities. Thanks!
Of course, using this port is not the most convenient since I have to use an OTG adaptor and use serial for debugging but it will do for now.
Any idea what's the cause and whether a fix is planned? In the mentioned topic I see some USB related fixes are apparently imminent.
