Connect external power button/operation buttons through 16x2 display board

Unread post by jasonrees » Sun Aug 25, 2019 8:31 pm

Hi,

I have an Odroid XU4 with the 16x2 display connected through the Shifter Shield. I want to add an external power button and 2 other buttons. Is this possible and, if so, how can I do this? I know you can do it through the actual XU4 board, but I have not yet found a way to do it with the 16x2 display board connected.

Thanks,
Jason

there is a gpio pin if you send it a high signal i think...it will power off the board..but you would have to look up the schems to be shure...from mem it piggy backs the xu4 power button.....have no idea where that comes out on the shifter or your lcd panel...look up more schems...

The PWNON signal is available on the XU4 30pin header as well as the Shifter-Shield 40pin header.

I am aware that you can do this through the XU4 board and the shifter shield, but how do you do it through the 16x2 lcd board? Sorry if I'm not making any sense, im very new to all this.

Do you use this 16x2 LCD board?

If yes, you might need to desolder the D4 LED and connect a button between pin #35 and #1.
