Add serial com port to Cloudshell2

Unread post by Eclin » Tue Jul 09, 2019 11:01 pm

Hi,

I'd like to add a 9 pin serial port(s) to my XU4 with Cloudshell2 to use a X10 dongle and HA bridge software.
I'm running Ubuntumate 18.04.

What's the best way to go about this?
I think I have three options.

1. I have a usb-uart interface on hand (I'm not using the serial console)
2. Also have a Shifter Shield (not sure it can be used along with the Cloudshell interface, perhaps with T-pins of some sort?)
3. I have a few pc usb-serial adapters kicking around. Are these compatible with Odroids/Linux?

Appreciate any help.

1 cent for #3 which seems to be the easiest one for me if its driver is supported, probably it would be. What the type or model of it? Or just attach it to XU4 and see if you can have like /dev/ttyUSB*.

Thanks for the suggestion tobetter, I'll try that.
Was hoping to avoid using a Usb ports though.
