Not sure how to pull logs but Ethernet does not work for me, rendering things useless at this point. Guess I'll try to flash again. Didn't really want to start over.

Yeah it worked for me initially. Then I noticed when I booted into coreelec and back into ATV it acted as if I was no longer plugged in. Sometimes pulling the power
fixes this but even that isn't working right now.

I ended up reflashing the most recent image, and so far so good. Rebooted a couple times and Ethernet seems to be working.

Triple post sorry.

The power button on the remote I have "Minix neo a2 lite" is not recognized on this rom. Just the power button is ir and needs to be setup.

Is there any way to get a reboot shortcut within the os so that we can boot back to petiboot? Currently I can't find a way to do it, all the apps that I saw on the play store require root.

ATV = Android TV
The other one is with the standard Phone/Tablet GUI.

Works fine with my IPTV provider but I think I'll remove the feature on the next release since we don't have a certified Google device we can't cast almost nothing.

I was hoping to use the feature to cast from chrome.
Are you sure your IPTV provider is using cast an not dlna or something else?

ATV version. x64
1. Google Music only has smartphone UI instead of ATV interface.
2. Then you try install new app, system/UI got huge slowdown, lags, e.t.c
3. You can't add G Music or Files app to start screen.

Hi there, really appreciate the work you've done on this ROM. I'm trying to get a AverTV Volar Hybrid Q H837 TV Tuner to work with it, and it doesn't seem to be recognized when I plug it into the USB port, and the Live Channels app does not give me the option to scan:

[59147.712147] usb 1-1.2: new high-speed USB device number 8 using xhci-hcd
[59147.852205] usb 1-1.2: Unsupported device

This device is supposed to be supported by all Android TV 7+ devices, so I was hoping you could point me in the right direction as to what I need to change/include to support this device. Thanks again!

Trying to install on my eMMc card with Etcher in Windows.
Getting message that this is not supported .
I'm assuming that it's something to do with the .tar.gz.
Can you point me in the right direction to create image.

You need to unzip image file from .tar.gz. before flash it by Etcher

Yeah it would be nice if it could be compressed using the .xy format so it could be flashed without decompression.

You need unzip twice. First gz ->tar and then tar -> img. Then flash img file. It must run this way. Checked two days ago ;)

As I can read on the official web site Android TV isn't mentioned as supported OS.

Yeah it has a been a bit tricky to find information. On their Amazon product page they say Android 7+ is supported and specifically mention Live Channels: https://smile.amazon.com/AVerMedia-Supp ... ref=sr_1_2, I have also tried with a Hauppage 955Q (which says it has support: http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/support/ ... vechannels) and get the same unsupported device errors so I assume I'm missing some sort of kernel module or driver. These are two of the USB tuners that people seem to have had luck with on the Shield and Nexus Player (https://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidTV/comm ... th_nougat/) but most of the information I'm finding seems to be dated so I'm kind of grasping at straws here.

Other tidbits of info that I've found that may or may not turn out to be useful are:
https://github.com/hardkernel/buildroot ... mlogic_dvb and viewtopic.php?t=24201&start=100

I'll keep poking around, thanks for the quick response!

FWIW, I was able to get the Hauppage WinTV-HVR-955Q working with ATSC and the stock Live Channels app by turning on the following kernel settings and re-building:

Code: Select all

CONFIG_VIDEO_CX231XX=y
CONFIG_VIDEO_CX231XX_DVB=y
CONFIG_VIDEO_CX231XX_ALSA=y
CONFIG_DVB_USB=y
CONFIG_DVB_USB_V2=y
The other AverMedia adapter was recognized at this point, but it still wouldn't work, and there were some errors in dmesg that did not look simple to resolve when I googled them, so I gave up on that one.

It seems like Android only supports ATSC via Live Channels for now, but DVB-T is planned for Android Q.

Edit: Spoke a bit too soon, the audio does not appear to be working properly, so maybe there is an issue with AC3 decoding. Will dig into that next.

Okay, didn't get to test yesterday. Will wait for the next build.

Are you using USB? I'm guessing it may have something to do with that, I get some reboots while playing Microsoft xCloud games on all N2 Android releases be it 64 or 32bit.

Hello. I use the latest version of android tv.
1. Hdmi cec works (after turning off tv, turns off odroid n2), after turning on tv turns on odroid but no image. The original tv remote control does not work with android tv (it worked without problems in coreelec).
2. Does 5.1 audio work for you? For me, everything is broadcast in stereo, in Coreelec playing the movie in 5.1 was not a problem.
Do you have it too? I wanted to move from coreelec but I have mixed feelings.
3. In my monitor at resolutions above 1080p (2k screen) the image has artifacts. A change to 1080i helps

Is it me or everyone that, after Google Play is updated, the remote cannot move the focus to the top bar that contains the settings icon? Also back key on the remote doesn't work in Play Store as well. Works totally fine in any other apps.

The same problem. In addition, YouTube does not work in HDR. Another thing is that it works in the original Hardkernel but only in 1080p ...

I think this is the way YouTube works on uncertified devices.

If you use Smart YouTube TV or perhaps Vanced you should be able to do 4K HDR.

Thank you very much. Hdr works. I still have a problem with the low sound level, but unfortunately I can't find the settings.

Little edit. All works ok. I use AndroidTV app on my phone and use volume buttons.

Unfortunately, I hurried up. After turning the TV off and on - black screen. On the latest 64bit version from HK, everything is fine. PlayStore can be bypassed but reset every time you start tv is annoying.

BTW. Is there any way to add auto frame rate? For me, it has always been the biggest weakness of Android TV Box compared to LibreElec or CoreElec. I dream of a system with image quality from Coreelec, availability of Android software and ATV control ...

@baalho Shutdown and Restart options are (only ?) in Settings menu: Settings->Device Preference->About => Restart - Shutdown.

@secuflag I installed your Rom on my Odroid N2 on an uSD card. The installation and all post boot setup went OK without any problem. I'm not an Android fan, nor do I use it extensively except on my mobiles, although I'm familiar with ATV on my other box (Mecool KM8). The reason I went for ATV version is because of only one app that works on ATV, that is an IPTV2Go app from my ISP. That app works perfect on your Rom, so I'm satisfied, mission accomplished :)

Some observations with your Rom on N2:
I'd also like a Reboot/Shut_down button for convenience.

Also, since N2 does not have onboard WiFi I use Ethernet. It works for me only with DHCP and cannot establish internet connection with fixed IP.
The other thing is when looking at Ethernet status it is always "Not connected", although it is connected to internet and works OK.

When Android starts I get Information that an "Unsupported SD Card is connected", although Android runs from it without problems :)

When "Play Store" app automatically updates to some new version it doesn't work any more. Have to uninstall update to get it to work and set app to "Do not auto update"

For convenience is it possible to place a link in general Settings for additional "Odroid Settings" ?

Thank you VERY much for your work and effort to make this Rom available.
Best regards

ATV = Android TV
The other one is with the standard Phone/Tablet GUI.
miskol wrote: I can't chromecast youtube videos
I can't cast from chrome

is it really working?
I am testing 32bit ATV version
Works fine with my IPTV provider but I think I'll remove the feature on the next release since we don't have a certified Google device we can't cast almost nothing.
Plz keep chromecast support
I found that I can chromecast from VLC just fine.
So plz add some note that youtube/hbo go/netflix don't work
only VLC and some IPTV providers

First post updated!

@Sholander: Play Store and Ethernet settings with static IP now should works fine.

Is now available optimized version for board with 4GB and 2GB of RAM.
Note for ATV users: DO NOT update Play Music app, if you did it, remove the update from app settings.

Thnx, will update and report back.

Just to clarify the steps for 4GB Ram version, I just download "4GB_arm64_PIE-R.06_selfinstall-odroidn2.tar.gz" copy "4GB.tar to some USB and update choosing this file from Setup menu, or do I have to do a new/fresh installation ?

Edit: I'm completely lost, don't know how to update. When I chose Update from downloaded package I get the message "No apps can perform this action".
Is there some other way to update, since I don't have "Fastboot" installed.

Doing a fresh install after fiddling several hours with present version to get everything working to my liking and needs, I just don't feel eager to do everything again from scratch.
Every help with explaining how to update is very welcome :)

Looking forward to this update, thank you very much.

Is there any way to make other IR remotes to work? That would be fantastic.
And, wake from sleep/power, is not possible if I dont have Odroid IR remote? I have to pull the power plug every time :x
