Kernel 4.17+ image available for XU4?

Unread post by maatsche » Tue Jun 11, 2019 10:34 pm

Hi Guys,

Has anyone a fully supported working image for ODROID XU4?

Trying to get some hardware working which got supported with 4.17.

Currently got Ubuntu LTS on Kernel 4.14 and somehow not able to update Kernel to anything more recent...

Any help/hint is greatly appreciated.

Best regards,
Maatsche

We provide 5.1.y which can be installed on any Armbian image in very simple manner -> armbian-config -> system -> alternative kernels.

Awesome. Thanks mate.
In my case im actually looking for a desktop less solution running purely command line.

Do you know if I can also upgrade to Kernel 5.1 via "dist-upgrade" via cmd?

Much appreciated!

Ofc but not with dist-upgrade command since kernel is not tied to any specific distribution. 5.1 is not considered production stable under in any distribution out there.

You have to uninstall default/next kernel (apt purge linux-image-next-odroidxu4 linux-dtb-next-odroidxu4) and install dev kernel (replace next with deb). A bit more know-how is required ...
