It's a bit odd that there are no driver modules loaded at all.
What OS do you use?
Do you have a directory or files under /lib/modules?
What does uname -a say?
I guess the problem is that necessary drivers for USB storages are not loaded like usb_storage or uas.

Did you build your own kernel and didn't install your own compiled driver modules?
Kernel build date is different from our official kernel update package.

Code: Select all

odroid@odroid:~$ uname -a
Linux odroid 4.14.111-158 #1 SMP PREEMPT Tue Apr 16 12:26:31 -03 2019 armv7l armv7l armv7l GNU/Linux

Something weird is that you have this

Code: Select all

root@odroid:/lib/modules# dir
4.14.111-158 4.14.29-125
while your kernel version is 4.14.111+. I guess you must be having the local kernel build...?

Code: Select all

root@odroid:~# uname -a
Linux odroid 4.14.111+ #1 SMP PREEMPT Sun May 5 12:16:14 UTC 2019 armv7l armv7l armv7l GNU/Linux
You should figure out where your kernel image comes from, otherwise, you should copy the BOOT partition from the original image.

Absolutely this could cause the problem, this is what @odroid asked you if you had built your own custom kernel and replace it.

Can you check where the kernel modules are installed or if /lib/modules is been changed after the command "sudo make modules_install" ?

Try this command to go back to the official kernel package.
sudo apt install --reinstall linux-odroid-5422

I ran the command there was no such error.
Some portion of the rootfs seem to be corrupted probably.

Did you have any error when you compile/install the Kernel and driver modules?
Try sudo make modules_install in "linux" directory again.

Hi @Odroid
tks for your kind feedback, what i thought i will reflash 18.04.01 as per this link

https://wiki.odroid.com/odroid-xu4/os_i ... 03-minimal

seems i have been following wrong instructions.... (which is meant for 16.04)

sorry my bad
Hope this will resolve all issues related to my XU4

btw.. last time i had a problem that once the XU4 is rebooted.. then none of my USB mounts gets working... everytime i have remount them...
what could be the reason for it?
Anyway let me reflash as per above link and then update here on the outcome tonight...
tks agin

Reflashing the image will solve your issue. Normally, you don't need to download and build your own kernel generally.

BTW, the minimal image has no auto-mount feature.
Search google with "ubuntu usbmount" ;)

ok tks... but it wasn't case before in the early days i had no problem with automatic unmount after reboot...

probabaly i have been following wrong guideline and then this issue would have come..

i'll try this for USB automounting https://askubuntu.com/questions/846406/ ... -usb-mount
(Hope posting external links are not banned here)

btw do i need isntalla java separatly
ususally i get SAMBA, DELUGE, SERVIIO,TV HEADEND packages on my XU4
i guess for these packages i must have java installed.
pls help me with getting JAVA ... as this guide https://wiki.odroid.com/odroid-xu4/os_i ... 03-minimal doesn't tell anything about JAVA

Don't worry. We've not banned any posts/users since we started this forum several years ago except for spamming.

The "usbmount" link seems to be okay. If possible, search with "Ubuntu 18.04" too.

If you prefer using Oracle Java, follow this link.
viewtopic.php?f=88&t=24355#p165685
Otherwise, you can install the latest OpenJDK from Canonical's official repo.

Many people mentioned that Oracle Java has a better performance.
But OpenJDK performance seems to be improved a lot these days.
