Maximum Power handling limit of XU4

Unread post by thohtdelta » Sat May 04, 2019 9:49 pm

I am curious to know how much power the board can handle before burning out.
i have read all power related threads and cannot find the info.
Many say only the max consumption will be 3.2A/5V which is 16 watts(neglecting voltage drop).
Considering voltage drop to 4.6 and current is 3.2A we get <15 watts(DC Supply).

So my question is what is the maximum permissible wattage the board can handle when all peripherals are connected without problem?

HardKernel ships the board with either 5V/4A PSU or even with a 5V/6A PSU so 20 ~ 30 W, but even if you use a 10A power supply it wouldn't change much in my opinion.
Some of my external HDDs drop every now and then when CPU is doing heavy tasks, doesn't make a difference if I use 4A or 6A with the board.
So the board will drop power to the peripherals long before you either reach 20 or 30W.

Most of the time it is 5V/4A PSU..u COULD HARDLY FIND 5V/6A.But it is true that board drops power to the peripherals, most of the times between 20 to 30 W
