OMV4 and duplicati - so slow

Unread post by Nuke » Fri Apr 05, 2019 11:49 pm

Why SO slow? 1.80 MB/s, meh.
WD Red 4TB. Odroid HC2. Flashmemory plugin is installed. Only 1\3 power of CPU is used. TEMP folder for Duplicati operations on the HDD, not on a microsd. No compression. No crypt.
What is wrong with it?
May be something still using microsd card? how to check it?

I'am newbie in Debian but iotop scares me:

Can you try to measure the HDD file IO performance via the SSH command line?
Try the following commands on the HDD mount directory.
Write speed command :
dd if=/dev/zero of=test.tmp oflag=direct bs=8M count=64
Read speed command :
dd if=test.tmp of=/dev/null iflag=direct bs=8M count=64

It must be faster than 100MB/sec.
Also show us "lsusb" and "lsusb -t" outputs.

no problem with hdd. ~150MB/s write and ~180MB/s read.
Forget about Duplicati. Now I want just copy folder with few big files from HDD to same HDD. Trying with "mc" and with "cp -r". I have speed up to 50MB/s for copying process. Why not so much?

Ideally, you should get around 70~80MB/sec if you copy files from/to the same HDD.
But cp or mc might read and write in small block size. Therefore, the transfer rate could be lower than your expectation.
