Hi everybody!

Unread post by franz159 » Sun Feb 24, 2019 12:43 am

Hi everybody!
I have been using raspebrry with Moode for years as a music enthusiast.

I use one of my raspberry Pi3B+ with a 2Tb USB disk acting as a sort of "mini-NAS", sharing the disk in read/write using Samba.
I'm reasonably sure that an Odroid, say HC2, would be much more performant.
The thing should also be reasonably simple to configure.
Since I do not have direct experience with Odroid, I'm not sure which is the most stable software platform to install on it to achieve the above result.
As a further requirement, I would like to use the same device to run LMS (Logitech Media Server) on it.

Any advice?
Thanks!

Since the HC2 doesn't have HDMI you may want to think about the XU4, but if you go HC2 definitely get the UART cable.

But if I plan to use only LMS and Samba, I would just need the ethernet connection, correct?

I don't know what LMS is, but if you only need headless operation Ethernet is fine (unless you have an issue).

If you have an issue and your device won't boot correctly you have little recourse without the UART cable. With that cable you can gain a serial connection between the HC2 and a PC to find out what is going on.
