CoreELEC
I'm creating this Topic already.
We've made great progress for the few days we have the Odroid N2 device.
I'm happy to report that we have Kodi running with HW decoding, CEC, Audio. Also our Team Member Shanti tested several retro Gaming stuff and the performance is amazing.
There remains a lot of work to do especially for HW decoding but I'm confident that we will have a good working image when the Odroid N2 hits the market.
It is one of the best devices for Kodi Mediacenter I've ever seen!
Thank you @odroid and Hardkernel!

Re: CoreELEC
We fixed some FB issues. Will push a Kodi patch later. Now scaling works perfect.
Also @Portisch made suspend2ram work And wakeup from IR remote. We improved cfgload a little bit. You can now have simultaneous emmc and sd card connected. SD is the priority so you can fix your emmc.
@odroid Do you want PR's now or should we wait for more stuff?

Re: CoreELEC
We will.
For now here is the first test version. I can confirm that NF plays with 1080p flawlessly in KODI now (highest bitrate). There are still tons of bugs in this new kernel. HW decoding is far from perfect. The cooling is superb! Even though some LibreELEC developers are spreading Fake News about the passive cooling and trying to discredit Hardkernel I have to say this cooling system is awesome [1][2]. I have been watching SW decoded NF video for 20min in my very warm room and the temperature never went over 45°C. Good job Hardkernel!!

Small video of Netflix on CoreELEC for the N2, sorry it's not longer, was pressed for time.

Re: CoreELEC
I sometimes get a black screen. I've included a script to install CE on emmc from a CE running on SD card. Some of our guys don't have this emmc2sd adapter that's why. It's handy this way cause we made SD the priority to boot so users can have their stable system on emmc and use sd cards to test new stuff. Or if you need to repair your system. I'm sure @Portisch will send some of our cfgload changes as PRs for you guys to consider.

I've wrote about the current status and also made some power consumption measurements here:

Basically we can do a first official release soon. Looking good. I will make a new test version next week.

If the official release is coming within the next 24h I can wait but if you think it's going to take longer that that I'd love a test version to play with until then.

Untested but it should work
This is still temporarily. Don't expect that it will be able to tar update to official from here. Only use as clean flash.

Re: CoreELEC
Well thanks for trying now it's time to debug because the image didn't work. I'm going to try reinstalling it again but it boots up gives me 1/2 a screen of static for about 2 seconds then just goes to black. I'll have to check the SD card as it's new. and the file size is weird as it's 150mb from mega but etcher is saying the image is over 500mb.Raybuntu wrote: ↑Thu Apr 04, 2019 8:04 pmIt might work but I can't guarantee it yet.xtertristl wrote: ↑Thu Apr 04, 2019 8:01 pmThanks for this! Re: CoreELEC
OK got it working I installed it to an SD card but had the emmc board connected it was booting off the emmc board. I might have to buy one of those adapters to write it to the emmc memory but I thought I could boot into coreelec then write it over to the emmc board in there when the stable build was published.

Re: CoreELEC
Worth adding that people have only started to receive these over the last few days and we already have more than 60 unique devices running CoreELEC
I can easily see this becoming the most popular device if the trend continues.

Re: CoreELEC
We have an anonymous counter:
https://discourse.coreelec.org/privacy#os
Basically each time the system asks for an update we collect DTB id, unix timestamp, Country.
These can be disabled but as I said those data is based on a nonpersonal anonymous random 32 character id (created like uuid's) and is stored for a week only.
This is helpful to use what devices are being used. For instance we now have more users than Khadas Vim1 in over a year.

Re: CoreELEC
I received one of my new N2's yesterday and CoreELEC was the first thing I tried on it. This might replace my unstable NUC running LibreELEC. Everything worked right away, and it is super responsive; this is very impressive.
I've seen the menu freeze for a few seconds once during the original setup but it hasn't happened again. And I currently have one new TV episode that does not get added to the database no matter what I try. But I was probably asking for trouble by copying the database files from the old machine!
I almost turned off the anonymous stats but thought you'd get some satisfaction from seeing the growing number of users.
Thank you all.

Re: CoreELEC
Well the stats thing is really random and non personal and it only makes sense to us as a whole. Their has to be a justification to support one or the other device. If it was just 3 users we wouldn't have to spend money on hosting and a forum etc.jasio2 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 12, 2019 5:58 pmI received one of my new N2's yesterday and CoreELEC was the first thing I tried on it. We do have a small user base in general (around 8000) compared to LibreELEC. I think they have over 300000 users which most are Rapberry Pi's.

Re: CoreELEC
So we now have more than 100 active devices running CoreELEC since some people have started receiving their 2GB boards, this is more than our combined Khadas VIM1+2 device count and I think it goes to show the amount of interest in this board, still only 13% of our C2 count but I'm sure it will catch up in no time at all.

Re: CoreELEC
Just got My N2, installed coreelec using SD card(eMMC removed). Want to install it to EMMC, but I cannot boot to SD while it's installed, even using SPI. In SPI, It just says 'processing new Disk device' and sits. if I press any key it says 'Failed to launch petitboot, dropping to a shell' and restarts if I type exit. I have updated SPI to latest, and tried different sd cards and even a couple of usb devices. Any ideas?
