I got it!!!

I have installed Netflix and Amazon addons, and both work fine. About NetFlix, I think that the problem was in the version, cause I had an error with your “Netflix repository” (no connection). I used the zip file downloaded from github official web. I use the Netflix 0.13.22.

But I need your help, because when I use the rc.local file in order to execute kodi on the boot, I have a problem: on the kodi on/off bottom I only have one option (Exit), where are the other normal options (reboot, shutdown, etc)? Any problem with rc.local? Permission?

When I execute kodi from console, manually, I don’t have that error.

Thanks.
Normally if you install the Netflix plugin, some dependency plugins are installed which brings you the Exit, Shutdown, Reboot, Hyphenate a.s.o options, so I am confused why your Netflix installation does not provide that ...

Hi:

Yes, but when I execute kodi from console, manually, I don’t have that error and i can see all Kodi power options (Exit, Reboot, shutdown, etc). So:

1.- #root: su - odroid + #odroid: Kodi -> OK (Exit, Reboot, shutdown, etc)

2.- rc.local (runuser -u odroid kodi) -> NOK (only Exit)

So i think that the problem is in the privileges of user Kodi. Also i have the same problem with my iphone add for Kodi remote control with that auto Kodi boot.

Any idea or trick?

Thanks.

Hi:

Two questions:

1- What about this options?

“/etc/rc.local” file -> runuser -l odroid -c 'kodi'

2- Or, could i need the full path on rc.local to kodi (/usr/bin/kodi)?

Thanks.

No in that case only runuser will do it

See, the Netflix Add-on from my howto will install some dependencies, I think it's a phyton script which gives you the privilege to have all other options for closing shutdown etc. Kodi, I told you already

I have double checked that and runuser works ! dunno why you only get exit menu entry and others not, try this in /etc/rc.local add su - odroid -c 'nohup /usr/bin/kodi > /dev/null 2>&1 &'

Get newer libvidewine libraries (trick):

SPRING Chromebook Hardware ID doesn't get software updates anymore it seems, to get the newest libwidevine updates you have to edit a file in

/home/odroid/.kodi/addons/script.module.inputstreamhelper/lib/config.py

and set HW ID from

CHROMEOS_ARM_HWID = 'SPRING'

to

CHROMEOS_ARM_HWID = 'SNOW'

also you can set WIDEVINE_UPDATE_INTERVAL_DAYS to 0 to check for new library on every movie, but I only would set it once and then back

Hi:

First: i used this line on the rc.local "su - odroid -c 'nohup /usr/bin/kodi > /dev/null 2>&1 &'"; and this didn't work. Same result, on the on-off botton of kodi only one option: Exit:

Second: in my installation, i don't have this folder: "/home/odroid/.kodi/addons/script.module.inputstreamhelper"

Any solutions for these two problems?

Thanks!

you do not have a home folder ...

jmirca sorry but I can't guide you to a solution if you don't know how you can help yourself even just a little, that folder /home/odroid/.kodi/addons/script.module.inputstreamhelper is created for the inputstreamhelper Add-on when you start kodi with the odroid user, you say that if you logon manually with su - odroid and then start kodi your exit menu shows all options, on the other hand you say you are using inputstreamhelper and you got it working, are you mixing Android and Linux here ? because otherwise you must have that folder, sorry but I am out here I don't know what your current situation is, follow the Kodi GBM 18.2 install guide on Ubuntu 18.4 minimal guide again, follow the inputstream.adaptive Netflix guide again and you should be ok, all information you need you can find here in this forum and you have read it already.

I have followed your steps to the letter, and I thank you very much your work (packages, solutions, Addons, etc). But I have reinstalled three times Kodi and Addons, always over Ubuntu (never over Android), and only I have one problem: my user on kodi don’t have privileges to execute all power off options on Kodi.

I intended use “contrab” (toot user only) and “rc.local” in order to execute Kodi on boot, but both didn’t work. Do you know another way to boot Kodi?

Thanks again, really.

@jmircha

You might want to test my image (link in my sig), it'll boot you straight into Kodi.

Ok, now we are back in business your problem to find the directory seems to be solved, today I have tried it also on a new Ubuntu minimal 18.04 installation -> same problem, I have only one option in exit menu and that is 'exit' when I autostart kodi, when I start it manually it works, it's just the same as you have reported ... It must be an Ubuntu issue, because on debian (OpenMediaVault) the menu show all entries even when I autostart kodi

So, long talking short answer, I don't know a solution yet for it :(

I will try to find a solution on empirical research

I made some investigation and found a dirty way...
First, you have to make autologin: viewtopic.php?t=27964#p199509 (don't forget to replace "myusername" with "odroid")
Second , put a line "kodi" at bottom of /home/odroid/.bashrc
Maybe that will do, if you use XU4 only for kodi...

Hi:

I have changed the ".bashrc" with this line "kodi", but nothing ocurrs. So my priviligies problem continues...

But I HAVE ANOTHER PROBLEM, cause i use "Remote Control App" and i need to fixed one statip ip address in order to control my kodi.

I intended two methods:

1.- File /etc/network/interfaces: but the static ip configuration over "eth0" doesn't work. I tested static configuration over that file "interfaces" and then i created another "eth0" file over directory "interfaces.d". Nothing works. When my file "interfaces" has this configuration (one line):
source /etc/network/interfaces.d
Then i have a dynamic DHCP...
2.- Netplan: when i execute "sudo netplan generate" i don't have file *.yaml on the directory /etc/netplan (empty directory).

So, why dont i have file *.yaml? do you know any method to configurate static ip?
And, if my Operating System has a dynamic DHCP configuration, where is it?

Thanks.

hi:

About the last problem, my Ubuntu has this configuration "dynamic":
Link: Connected
MAC Address: 00:1E:...
IP Address: 192.168.1.37
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
GateWay: 192.168.1.1
Primary DNS: 127.0.0.53
Secondary:
Internet: Connected

So, is it normal this "DNS Server" 127.0.0.53? Where is this configuration?

Thanks!

1. Did you made working autologin?
2. You have to create 01-netconf.yaml file manually, the put inside something like:

network:
ethernets:
eth0:
addresses:
- 192.168.1.10/24
gateway4: 192.168.1.1
nameservers:
addresses:
- 8.8.8.8
- 8.8.4.4

Then sudo netplan apply...

Hi:

I created a file "config.yaml" in the /etc/netplan/ folder with this data:

network:
ethernets:
eth0:
addresses: 192.168.1.10/24
gateway4: 192.168.1.1
nameservers:
addresses:
- 8.8.8.8
- 8.8.4.4

and it worked! You must be careful with the indexing...

So, i only need solve the problem with the privilegies over Kodi (power off options). Any idea? Maybe using "systemctl start kodi" in rc.local?

Thanks!

Hi:

I don’t understand your question, when I reboot my Odroid, Kodi run automatically cause I have this line on rc.local:

runuser -u odroid kodi

So I don’t see nothing, only Kodi.

Why I have problem with privileges on kodi when I run it with “runuser “?

Thanks

better put it in ~/.config/autostart/, or use the System -> Preferences -> Personal -> Startup Applications to define what programs should be started for the current user.

Another way to auto run Kodi (rc.local, bashrc, etc)?

I will test this configuration:

Allow Kodi to show power down and reboot menu:

Create a /etc/polkit-1/localauthority/50-local.d/all_users_shutdown_reboot.pkla file as root with the following contents ->
[Allow all users to shutdown and reboot]
Identity=unix-user:*
Action=org.freedesktop.login1.*;org.freedesktop.upower.*;org.freedesktop.consolekit.system.*
ResultActive=yes
ResultAny=yes
ResultInactive=yes

And i will tell you...
Thanks!
