USB-C PD for Odroid HC1?

Unread post by rgmhtt » Sat Jan 12, 2019 4:32 am

I just discovered that I lost a port on one of my Anker 5 port USB power supplies. I use these for my many Cubieboards (3A peak). I have to replace it, but I am looking to my future use of the more power-demanding Odroid HC1s.

I am finding a number of 87W, 5 port USB-C chargers. That would average 3.4A per port, but USB-C can support higher as needed.

So given a stack of HC1s, would one of these work (with the proper USB-C to barrel cable).

Might be an issue if you are recovering from a power outage and all 5 are at maximum power consumption.

It would be a much neater power solution than 5 of the 4A blocks with associated power strip that has room for them.

Does not seem to be an option. My digging has only found that USB-C power needs that data connection to negotiate the V and A. Without it all you get is 5V, 2A.

Perhaps a later version of the HC1 will come with a USB-C power port.
