VU7 Touchscreen problem with Android 5.1.1

Unread post by microlay » Fri Nov 23, 2018 8:34 pm

Hi All,

We are using the C2 and the VU7 to control a machine with a custom app. The touchscreen of the VU7 becomes inoperable 1/10 aprox. randomly, we couldn't find a pattern. Looking at the log cat we found those lines:

Code: Select all

I/InputReader( 3156): Device added: id=6, name='aml_keypad', sources=0x00002303
I/InputReader( 3156): Device added: id=5, name='odroid-encoder', sources=0x00000101
I/InputReader( 3156): Touch device 'RPI_TOUCH By ZH851' could not query the properties of its associated display. The device will be inoperable until the display size becomes available.
I/InputReader( 3156): Device added: id=4, name='RPI_TOUCH By ZH851', sources=0x00001002
I/InputReader( 3156): Device added: id=3, name='USB 2.0 Camera', sources=0x00000101
I/InputReader( 3156): Device added: id=2, name='vt-input', sources=0x00000101
I/InputReader( 3156): Device added: id=1, name='cec_input', sources=0x00000301
I/InputReader( 3156): Reconfiguring input devices. changes=0x00000004
D/InputReader( 3156): mViewport.orientation = 0
D/InputReader( 3156): mViewport.orientation = 0
I/InputReader( 3156): Device reconfigured: id=4, name='RPI_TOUCH By ZH851', size 800x480, orientation 0, mode 1, display id 0
I/ActivityManager( 3156): Config changes=68 {1.0 ?mcc?mnc en_US ?layoutDir sw640dp w1066dp h566dp 120dpi lrg land ?uimode ?night finger -keyb/v/h dpad/v s.4}
So we thought that maybe line:

Code: Select all

I/InputReader( 3156): Touch device 'RPI_TOUCH By ZH851' could not query the properties of its associated display. The device will be inoperable until the display size becomes available.
is causing the issue. Is there a way to indicate the size of the display somehow to avoid this behaviour?

Hi, microlay.
Do you explain more the situation of inoperable touch? I couldn't make this case.
When system reboots or when USB cable reconnected, the touchscreen becomes inoperable?
When the touchscreen becomes inoperable, dose the vu7 screen works well?

Try to connect USB OTG port instead of USB Host. or try to install marshmallow version.

Hi,
Issue appears when system boots 1 on 10/20 times, after a reboot the problem disappears, the VU7 works perfectly, and Android too (we tried with TeamViewer to control the device when the touch becames inoperable without issues). Since we install it in on a closed machine, connecting/disconnecting USB isn't an option. Marshmallow isn't an option neither because the app we use crashes on it (already tried). We will try the OTG then. Thank you.

When you try the OTG port, remove the J1 jumper.
