When we tested Windows 10 on H2 board, everything worked fine except for the I2C ports on 20pin Peripheral Expansion Header.

This would actually be a bad idea to do so; it would make the board more expensive for those not wanting to run Windows (paying for a license they don't use).

It would also mean that Hardkernel would have to take the time and resources to do all of book keeping and auditing that goes along with selling licenses. That cost would have to be passed on to the consumers as well as the cost of the Windows license.

Hello,
When you installed Win 10 was it home/pro? Were their any other issues during the installation (besides I2C not working)? Maybe you could add the info on your wiki.
Thank you.

We tested a Home version only. I hope Pro should work fine.
Once again, we have no plan to support Windows because of very limited knowledge and experience of MS operating system.

FWIW I installed 10 Pro from a SanDisk 32GB CZ43 Ultra Fit USB 3.0 drive:

Boot up Windows Installation
On first screen, press SHIFT+F10 then type:
diskpart
select disk 0
clean
exit
exit
Continue.
Select the unallocated partition (the only one shown) then click next, windows will create all needed partitions.
Done.

It took about 20 minutes to install and get to the desktop, no drivers requested and it runs sweet.

Got my H2 today and i'm quiet impressed. Went down to the local pc store and purchased 1 8Gb stick of cheap Corsair 2133Mhz RAM (CMSO8GX4M1A2133C15) hooked up a kingston 480Gb SSD (SA400S37/480G) then preceded to install Windows 10 Pro so I could do some basic checks. Windows 10 wont install onto USB connected storage so I pulled the SSD out of its USB3 enclosure and soldered up a SATA power adaptor using an old UART cable for the N2 side and plugged it via SATA.

Windows 10 install was quick and painless so I installed World of Warcraft to see how the onboard UHD 600 graphics performed (was not expecting much). With the standard intel drivers supplied with Windows it was a little low on framerate (15FPS with minimal settings) so updated to latest drivers from the intel Website which seen a relatively good improvement up to around 29FPS. Its not ideal with very low graphic settings but playable at 29 FPS so I was quiet surprised.

I'm purchasing what I think from the pics is a M2 to 4xPCIE adaptor to test out a Radeon RX 470 Graphics Card to see how it compares. Wondering if anyone knows the power specs of the 12v out supply in the Rev 2 board? I think ill have to supply my own power for the card somehow.

Yet to purchase NVME card and some more RAM but once I do will be installing Linux and pushing it for some server related loads. Will eventually try to install esxi and see if if it can work with the Realtek PHY's (haven't done my research here yet) but if it does will have to purchase another N2 and make a mini ESXi cluster to put my VM's on.

Well done hardkernel a lovely little board so far!

There was a lengthy discussion here in the forum about the capabilities of the M.2 port. It's made for NVMe SSDs and might not support other devices.
Especially not "standard" M.2 devices. a M.2 SATA SSD for example WILL NOT work on the M.2 port, while a M.2 NVMe (PCIe) SSD will work.
So you might want to check up what you can use the M.2 port for and be aware of the limitations before you buy hardware that is not supported for the ODROID H2.

Thanks maveric, I do recall that discussion and have hardware already which I use in another PC with exception of the actual M2 adaptor. The adaptor is relatively cheap and looks like this https://img.alicdn.com/imgextra/i4/3004 ... 660323.png

Its M key type and hoping it would support 4xPCIE rather than sata / usb / wifi etc. Will be an interesting test hopefully. I'm fairly certain it will be BYO power source.

Anybody install Windows 10 to an eMMC module?

Are eMMC modules faster than the PCIe modules on the H2.

Got it installed into eMMC from the downloadable file that Microsoft provides for free
Had no issue besides my display wasn’t happy with 60hz through the AMP, changed to 30 and all good;

There was a preinstalled emmc image posted to the forum a while ago, but I forgot who did it. Required a different installer if I recall correctly.

@puremind

Did you need/do anything special to install the OS on the eMMC?

What brand eMMC do you use?

Nothing special at all. I bought the 64Gb eMMC that Hardkernel recommends wth the H2 (orange one)
It is detected by the OS and BIOS without any problem

By the way, you can download the image of Windows 10 directly from Microsoft for free.

The license is other topic, but non activated image will work for 30 days at least. If you don’t have one there’s plenty to help out there, or you can buy.

Hey Brad, I was wondering if you had any luck getting that External graphics card running with your H2? Any info would be appreciated! I'm trying to build something of a custom laptop with some extra features and was thinking of trying something similar. I tried to PM you but my account is to new to send those! Thanks!

I did actually, there are some more details in this post viewtopic.php?f=171&t=35614&sid=0081c7e ... 01#p261982

It works quiets well with only PCIex4 speed. I need to work on getting a case and smaller power supply setup for it.
