The S905X2 SOC on the other hand is not legacy and being actively developed against Linus kernel. (Amlogic contributing with patches as well for new devices which is really good to see imo)
Interesting. I thought Amlogic is only active on their own 4.9 based BSP while everything that happens upstream is due to BayLibre (partially sponsored by Amlogic in the beginning, now mainly by Libre Computer) and heroes like e.g. Martin Blumenstingl: http://lca-kernel.ozlabs.org/2018-Armst ... c-SoCs.pdf

Yes they are the true heros amongst some others! :) Love their work and use it all the time.

Amlogic are contributing directly also which is the only point I was trying to make there. I think its good see them committing to the public domain.

I was thinking February, not sure why.
It is almost February. First week is off in HK for holidays. Can we expect something in the 2nd week of February? Let the game of speculation begin.

I guess the Droidlogic Galilei name does not mean it's in any way related to N2 but as least that gives a score for Amlogic S922 in case some are interested.

I'm not right after the point where it turns out there is no real linux support exists for S922, only Android, Android, Android... Screw that.

Stane's comment is very interesting there, he even shows a picture with S922X specs, and surprise, there is also a new S922D which is basically a S922X with neural network capabilities

as a side note, i really hope the DVP camera input would be exposed if the odroid n2 were to feature S922X or S922D SoC.

Hardkernel wouldn't use it if this is true ;)

Those numbers are beyond useless, you could roll some dice to get more accurate performance numbers for the S922x and it's variants.

There are other interesting differences between the X and D that the picture doesn't show(it's a marketing sheet after all), but that one definitely could be interesting if there was enough documentation to be able to use it.

I agree with rooted. I don't think we have to worry about hardkernel providing us anything but the best possible device they can.

Also just like most of the other public bits of info making the rounds about the s922 and its variants there is reason to question the android only bit.

Nobody’s saying how nice the S905X2 is for a C3.
A C2 with a USB3 instead of USB2, and lower power because of 12nm :)

Yeah, definitely. I saw after posting that this was in 32-bit ARM mode and to add to the pain using Geekbench 4.0. Direct to trash, sorry for posting that; at least that started some discussion :)

It was spontaneous project, but if @odroid will let me buy from first batch of n2 I can design LEGO case so everyone can make their own ;)Image

Should be around the corner as HK is offloading their XU4 inventory through great discount on their site.

I don't think they are offloading the inventory, the XU4 sells too well to discontinue it.

Anyway, I expect it will be at least 6 months from the release date that N2 will be well enough supported (in terms of extra hardware/custom software) to be able to replace the XU4 for non-tinkerers.

I noticed the IBM Blackbird (BK1B01) has open source firmware.
The $1k, 90W, and hardware accelerators gear it away from common SBC use but interesting.
