Ubuntu 18.04 instructions for 3.2" LCD

Unread post by xbmcnut » Tue Nov 13, 2018 10:02 am

Hey there,

Anyone got any updated instructions for that OS to allow the LCD to run? I've popped it on my C1+ and used the script mentioned here https://ameridroid.com/products/c1-3-2- ... lay-shield but it stops part way through with the following error.

Code: Select all

>>
>> Run modprobe FINISHED

** Script error: Run has no value

>> Create file to run X on Touchscreen PROCESSING

** Access er** Script error: file has no value

>> ror: cannot open: %/usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/99-odroidc-tftlcd.conf reason: -3
** Where: write either do either while do ei** Script error: cannot has no value

>> ther either either -apply-
** Near: write %/usr/share/X11/xorg** Script error: ther has no value

>> .conf.d/99-odroidc-tftlcd.conf {Se...

>>
** Syntax error: invalid "decimal" -- "99-odroidc-tftlcd.conf"
** Near: (line 1) .conf.d/99-odroidc-tftlcd.conf {Se...>>

On my system, there is no file called /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d

When I get to this step:

Code: Select all

sudo /etc/init.d/lightdm restart
I get the following error:

Code: Select all

sudo: /etc/init.d/lightdm: command not found

I assumed that lightdm was not installed (running minimal) but when I ran

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install lightdm
I got the following:

Code: Select all

0 upgraded, 607 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 146 MB of archives.
After this operation, 592 MB of additional disk space will be used.
Does that sound right?

Installed lightdm, got past that step. Now stuck here.

Remove old calibration data

Code: Select all

sudo rm /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/99-calibration.conf
rm: cannot remove '/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/99-calibration.conf': No such file or directory
Run calibrator
You need to check DISPLAY=:N.0 (not sure what that means)

Code: Select all

root@odroid:~# sudo FRAMEBUFFER=/dev/fb2 startx &
[1] 1172
root@odroid:~# sudo: startx: command not found

OK, no desktop installed on Hardkernel minimal 18.04 image. Ran

Code: Select all

sudo apt install ubuntu-desktop --no-install-recommends
rightly or wrongly and now startx works.

The WiKi instruction was written with the Mate desktop OS image.

Thanks, I blew the OS out and started again with Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (v2.1) with Mate.

I get to this section and the system seems to hang (display is alive but I can't move to calibrate)

Code: Select all

sudo FRAMEBUFFER=/dev/fb2 startx &

Code: Select all

root@odroid:~# sudo FRAMEBUFFER=/dev/fb2 startx &
[1] 10025
root@odroid:~#

If I then try and run

Code: Select all

sudo DISPLAY=:0.0 xinput_calibrator
, I get

Code: Select all

No protocol specified
Unable to connect to X server
.

Did you flash this image? ubuntu64-16.04.3-mate-odroid-c2-20170927.img.xz
https://wiki.odroid.com/odroid-c2/os_images/ubuntu/v2.4

It starts the Mate desktop out of the box if you connect an HDMI display.
