Andoid system routing

Unread postby richard-g8jvm » Sat Sep 15, 2018 10:59 pm

Hi
Any android developers or gurus ???
After successfully getting my own VPN up and running and getting an android tablet to use it, I'd like to test
it for the purpose it was created.
Which is streaming from the BBC media player when outside the UK.
That site can determine if you are using a VPN and blocks it
The andriod tablet has a IPVanish app on it which I can use servers around the world, it also has the openvpn client app
which I can use now to tunnel to my own external ip-address

Question

If i turn the IPvanish tunnel on and tunnel to a server in say London, and then use the open vpn client to tunnel to my external ip-address
so I if I try to connect to the BBC media player it sees my real address
Does the andoid sytem allow route nesting which would allow the above to work,
or will the two clients squabble over which one gets the default route, and give misleading results.
I think I know what happens on a linux system, but google developers are a strange breed.

The ipvanish client is a openvpn client, so there would be two openvpn clients running,

No idea, probably one tunnel will close the other one.
But why do you need two? Can't you just tunnel home and go out from there?

I'd like to try it as if I wasn't in the UK .
Hence putting me in one of the two conditions that the end destination would see a situation where it would not allow a stream, and then use my vpn
to look as if a normal ip-address in the UK.
Being on an island can be a PITA, it means you have to pay someone to get off it.

Try with tor. Maybe it doesn't interfere.
