Removing/Disabling Android Mouse Acceleration

Unread postby thatsneakyguy » Thu Sep 06, 2018 9:43 pm

There is mouse acceleration with any mouse you use on Android (and any device aswell) and I've seen many people asking the same question over a few years and no one answered it yet in all the threads I've seen (in various forums). Basically mouse acceleration makes it so the faster you move the mouse the more it will scale the movement, so the movement is not 1:1.

Here's an example ubuntu fix, not sure if it applies:
Code: Select all
xinput --set-prop 'USB OPTICAL MOUSE' 'libinput Accel Profile Enabled' 0, 1

What would the way to fix this on ODROID-C2 Android?

Since I am not holding Android now, I am not sure if there is a menu Pointer speed in Settings. Maybe you can try this out if it's supported.

Mouse Acceleration is not Pointer Speed, and yeah you can change Pointer Speed in Settings but it's not what I'm trying to do, I'm trying to remove mouse acceleration.

The Flat Pointer Acceleration from the link is the one what you want to try?

If my understanding is correct from the link, the mouse movement is constant regardless of how fastly the mouse is moved. Then I guess this is code where to be modified and unfortunately Android doesn't have the same feature what X11 has, changing a profile to Flat.

I am wondering what's the benefit of this function? Since it would let user move the mouse cursor more and more if it has to move from a corner to a corner.

It's for consistency and also to make games playable, movement is not intuitive with acceleration, would there be a way to disable this in Android?
