Next renewable data center
Would be interesting to read something about Hardkernels energy supply management in Odroid magazine for example and future expectations since South Korea will invest in renewables in near future.
Interesting further example is probably Google's development on that item:
https://environment.google/projects/announcement-100/
data center related Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE)

Re: Next renewable data center
Now I'm not sure if it's true, but I heard a rumour odroid powers the office by having the employees ride bicycles attached to generators while working

Re: Next renewable data center
Well, yes that's pretty close to truth for the team leaders
while their workers already can significantly improve their efficiency
, higher level managers now have to keep up with their (meant employees) energy demand, just in real time

Re: Next renewable data center
We already do that's:

With solar pannel, datacenter tier 3.

Re: Next renewable data center
Would be interesting to watch picture of solar panel and infrastructure at that high altitude after several years or 1/2/3 decades (although Santa Cruz is at 437m).
If Your website would share sun shine hours monitoring, clear sky data or in general weather data¹, that would be even more attracting to a (mobile) renewable data center line.
Do you backup energy for hours of low sunlight luminosity?
Thx for sharing
99.98% availability for tier 3 supported by Hardkernel hardware and yearly average temperatures between 19°C and 28°C, for at least 1.07kW/m2 heat dissipation.
That needs <95min downtime on 24/365.

Re: Next renewable data center
Hi,
Yes, but I wiash not confuse the possible customer with that's.
At full capacity we can run 45 days without sun and electricity.
In Bolivia the datacenter mobility is a non sense, because include into the city is near impossible to have transit offer to use their our ip.
Yes I know this SLA.Here the temperature is frequently above 35, and the datacenter is just working with airflow.
Cheers,

Re: Next renewable data center
That's probably somewhere between ~100-200kWh lead acid (deep-cycle, AGM or Gel, e.g. forklift), DOD 45-75% for backup or enhancing photovoltaic¹ (~10-20kWp?) capacity factor/availability.
Is satellite internet² access in Bolivia an option ( for e.g. rural area relay stations )?

Re: Next renewable data center
Too expensive price by MB via satelite, the best way is tunnel + public ip.
