(stupid) beginner questions

Unread post by patlabor » Sat Aug 11, 2018 1:02 am

Hello everyone,

today i got my odroid-go and got it working as an emulator right away without any problems.
but i also want to start using it as an arduino.
i started to read the wiki pages about it but one thing is not really clear to me.
when i start using the odroid as arduino, what will happen to the emulator part?
will i overwrite it with the arduino programm that i upload?
how can i choose between emulator and arduino?
if i shuld overwrite the emulator how can i revert back?

thanks in advance

best is to read a view posts here before you start. Learn how to upgrade the device firmware and update to the latest one (I think the latest is still not on the wiki page). Will the latest firmware you can easily switch between your app and the emulators.

But to answer your question: yes, the emulators are erased when you flash your arduino sketch, but you can flash them back. Easiest with the latest firmware. There you have a xyz.fw file on your SDCard to flash. One file would represent your sketch, another file the emulators and maybe more files for other emulators and apps. I wrote a „howto“ to help how to get a .fw from your arduino sketch.
