NEED HELP! Odroid GO - Error Flashing Firmware

Unread postby AndreBerndt » Wed Aug 08, 2018 7:27 am

Dear Sir or Madam,

my English is not very good because I'm from Germany, I hope you still understand me. I wanted to update the firmware of my Odroid-Go.
For this reason, I have downloaded the following firmware: odroid-go-firmware-bin-20180727.tgz
As described in the following video, I have tried updating the firmware:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2LD-BfR9%20-MI%20&%20list%20=%20PLXimQLB8bqpoa1kOf_NPPwF0rhocReaEU

After deleting the firmware on the device, I wanted to flash the new firmware on the Odroid-Go as described in the video.
Unfortunately, that did not work after multiple attempts.

I have used these settings in the ESP32 Download Tool):

Link...bootloader.bin 0x1000
Link...partitions.bin 0x8000
Link...odroid-go-firmware.bin 0x10000

Crystall req: 40M
SPI SPEED 40Mhz
SPI Mode DIO
Hashsize 128 Mbit

DoNotChqbin checked
ComPort 3 (as used to delete)
BAUD 921600

The program (ESP32 Download Tool V3.6.4) always reported the following error message:

ComPort 3 (as used to delete)
BAUD 921600

Please help me, I'm completely at a loss. I've already tried with older firmwares, always with the same error. I hope I did not destroy the device.

It appears to be an internationalization issue with the Espressif provided flash tool.

Try extracting to "C:\Odroid Go" instead of on the desktop.

Hallo Andre,

I don't know how to flash this Firmware onto the Odroid-Go with a windows10 pc.

But i think it's not possible to flash the newest Firmware (img file) onto the Odroid-Go.

The "20180806-factory" device firmware is a pre-release. It is only for developer testing. It should not be installed for normal use.

Thank you Crashoveride and dgfdg for your tip. My fault was just the fact that the path length was too long.
After I had copied the firmware, etc. into the root directory, the update was no longer a problem.

Your information has completely solved my problem.

Thank you for your prompt help.

Greetings to the USA and Frankfurt (Germany).
