[SOLVED] SD CARD ERROR

Unread post by jonas » Tue Aug 07, 2018 7:39 am

I recently assembled my device and created a fat32 sdcard (I followed this steps: https://wiki.odroid.com/odroid_go/emula ... roms#linux)

Then I put the sdcard in my device but it only shows this Image ( A card could not be detected. Ensure the card is properly inserted.)

i retried format to fat32, then vfat. changed cards no success.
I also reflashed the Firmware updates from here: viewtopic.php?f=158&t=31513 and it only says "SD CARD ERROR"

is my device broken? just in compatible sdcards (i tried many differend from 4GB to 128GB)?
how can i check the hardware - is there a hardware-test-firmware?

thanks for help

Did you format the SD card with FAT32 not exFAT certainly?
Did you create a folder /roms/a26 in the SD card?

Install Putty on your Windows PC or minicom on Linux/Mac computer and capture the log output to find a root cause.

thanks for your quick answer.

nope roms/a26 wasnt on my card (i used this skeleton-zip: https://wiki.odroid.com/_media/odroid_g ... sdcard.zip).
But add the folder (rom/a26) doesnt change anything.

(edit) yes, i trieed to format the SD-Cards as fat (mkfs.fat) and also with vfatb(mkfs.vfat) both no difference. exFAT I didnt trieed (/edit)

did you mean this log:

Code: Select all

Try this:
New SD card skeleton folders are required: "odroid/data/col" and "roms/col"

i added the new folders ("odroid/data/col" & roms/col), but nothing has changed.

in my initial post i forgot to write, that with the 20180727-Firmware the blue LED is flashing fast.
If I insert no card there is also the same error.

All the errors indicate an issue with the SD card. It is either not formatted correctly or is incompatible.

The SD card compatibility and format requirements are determined by Espressif (chip maker) in their esp-idf SDK. Currently exFAT is not supported so only SDHC (32GB or less) cards are supported.

Try formatting the SD cards on a Windows or MacOS system. Linux formatting has not been tested. Also try using the official SD card formatter:
https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/index.html

New SD cards (SDHC) in factory sealed packaging should not be formatted before use. The factory formatting is guaranteed to be standards compliant.

Have you copied the Go-Firmware from here:
https://github.com/OtherCrashOverride/g ... -smsplusgx
to the folder /odroid/firmware ?

The error is not firmware or file related. The "!" error means a SD card fault. The "X" error means a file problem on the SD card.

Well,
the problem was my sdcards - they are all from the same series
I just visit the market here and bought a new one.
(Re-)formatted with (mkfs.fat -F 32 -n ODROID /dev/sdb1) copied the skeleton-zip and IT WORKS !

Sorry for all the trouble
