Ubuntu Minimal 18.04 LTS (v1.0) ssh problem

Unread postby k06a » Sat Aug 04, 2018 4:57 pm

Just loaded ODROID-xu4 with Ubuntu Minimal build. Successfully connected to localhost ssh on ODROID itself:
Code: Select all
$ ssh 127.0.0.1

But have troubles connecting from a different host:
Code: Select all
$ arp -a
****
? (192.168.1.50) at 0:1e:6:**:**:** on en0 ifscope [ethernet]
****

Code: Select all
$ ssh root@192.168.1.50
write: Software caused connection abort

Checked "PermitRootLogin yes" record in /etc/ssh/sshd_config – this is defaulr for this build.

Could you ping to XU4 from the different host?

Try logging in from your external maxhine and then immediately check the sshd logs by running:
`sudo systemctl status sshd`

If you see `Could not load host key`... then basically the server hasn't generated ssh keys.

You can kick it off to do so by running
`sudo dpkg-reconfigure openssh-server`

Not super useful for a headless image, but fast to resolve!
