XU4-ORA-Base-RP-Pub-v1.2-BETA Build / missing Video snaps

Unread postby MikeDelta » Sun Jul 15, 2018 8:51 am

Hi there!

I´ve installed the XU4-ORA-Base-RP-Pub-v1.2-BETA Build and configured emulationstation - missing the option to enable video snaps and after scraping the images, marquees and videos with the Universal XML Scraper (set the correct path to the content) no video snap is playing in emulationstation! Is this a missing feature and comes in a later build or what is wrong?

Regards!
Mike

You would be better to post your question on the ORA dev forum.

The official retropie forum seems to be a right place.

Where did you get the v1.2 BETA?
I've just made a quick test guide. I tested it with ORA 1.1 image (based on our official Ubuntu 16.04 minimal + Kernel 3.10).

Try below steps from an SSH console if you can.

Update your system first. Select "NO" when you meet a warning message while installing linux-image-xu3 pacakge.
Code: Select all
apt update
apt upgrade
apt dist-upgrade
apt install linux-image-xu3
apt install mali-fbdev --reinstall

Change a couple of driver module configuration files to activate the small TFT display.
Code: Select all
echo "spi_s3c64xx" >> /etc/modules
echo "spidev" >> /etc/modules
echo "fbtft_device" >> /etc/modules
echo "options spi_s3c64xx force32b=1" > /etc/modprobe.d/odroid-console-kit.conf
echo "options fbtft_device name=hktft9340 busnum=1 rotate=270" >> /etc/modprobe.d/odroid-console-kit.conf

And reboot the system and check the status.
Check kernel version
Code: Select all
root@odroid:~# uname -a
Linux odroid 3.10.106-153 #1 SMP PREEMPT Mon Jun 4 01:19:38 UTC 2018 armv7l armv7l armv7l GNU/Linux

Check loaded drivers and number of framebuffers.
Code: Select all
root@odroid:~# lsmod
Module                  Size  Used by
cfg80211              466820  0
rfkill                 13139  2 cfg80211
cdc_ether               4667  0
usbnet                 22833  1 cdc_ether

fbtft                  34780  2 fb_ili9340,fbtft_device

sysimgblt               2159  1 fbtft
fb_sys_fops             1344  1 fbtft
spidev                  5990  0
spi_s3c64xx            15201  0

There must be two fb devices. fb0 is mapped to HDMI monitor and fb1 is mapped to the small TFT LCD.
Code: Select all
root@odroid:~# ls -l /dev/fb*
crw-rw---- 1 root video 29, 0 Jul 16 09:00 /dev/fb0
crw-rw---- 1 root video 29, 1 Jul 16 09:00 /dev/fb1

Run the following commands to test the LCD functionality.
Code: Select all
wget https://dn.odroid.com/5422/s_ora-v1.1.png
wget https://dn.odroid.com/ODROID-SHOW/N64_logo.gif
sudo apt-get install mplayer
sudo mplayer -nolirc -vo fbdev2:/dev/fb1 N64_logo.gif -x 320 -y 240 -zoom
sudo mplayer -nolirc -vo fbdev2:/dev/fb1 s_ora-v1.1.png -x 320 -y 240 -zoom

You will see this animation on the small TFT LCD.
