Suddenly screen not working anymore

Unread post by Voljega » Sun Jul 08, 2018 11:02 pm

Hello, suddenly with no change (no fimware flash, no drop of the machine, only transporting it in my backpack) the Odroid Go Screen stays white all the time.

Restarting with Menu pressed just makes the screen blink and if I keep pressing Menu then goes black like the unit is off
Removing the SD changes nothing, screen is still white
I can apparently launch a game blindy, there is music and sound

So I suppose the screen cable is disconnected, even if through the plastic I don't see anything strange.

I didn''t understand how to properly fix it in the first place, what is the mobile grey plastic part for ? I jsut swept the cable under it and it was working but if this is the issue, how to properly fix it ???

Definitily seems to be the screen ribbon , if I open the unit, the screen will even stay black but turned to white if press on the back a little.

I assume the dark grey mobile part must be used to keep it connected but how ? It doesn't seem to clip completely, or only one side ?

Is the screen ribbon already broken ? Only got my unit on last thursday and did'nt do anything harsh with it...

Please help :(

This is likely to be a common issue in future as it’s probably the trickiest part of the build.

Is there an FAQ this could be added to?

There is a red warning in the assembly guide.

We will add a magnified picture of fully inserted FPC cable.

For me the issue was not knowing if the grey part has to be clipped or not, as it is not that easy to do (clipping one side makes the other side come out a little) and I was afraid to break it due to the warning.... Well it's the first time I did something like that

Hi Volijega,

The white line of FPC cable has to reach very close to the connector locker.
I have added the phrase to the wiki.

Thank you,

This assembly video should be helpful.

The video link has been added to the wiki page.
