USB3 Fried ?

Hi All,

Recently recieved the Odroid XU4Q and i'm impressed :)
Device fits perfectly in my home-made arcade cabine.

But after 4 days, both of the USB 3 ports are suddenly not responding. (no blicking lights on plugged in devices)
This is no driver(s) issue, because all of these devices worked before on the USB3 ports and are still working on the USB2 (WiFi and bluetooth dongle, usb(3)sticks, arcade (led) buttons)
After searching the internet & forums etc. I tryed to clean both of the ports with a sharp cotton swab and alcohol, but no succes.
Tryed to use older images/kernel...without succes..

So I ordered a 20 bucks (original Odroid 5V/6A) powersupply to replace the original 5V 4A powersupply.
Thought this could be the solution because of the possibility there wasn't enough power. But i was wrong again...

Also added an (external) 5V powered fan, and placed that on top of the heatsink, because it's was always around 60/70C on idle use... ? (with the Noctua NF-A4x10 FLX 5V, now it's 44C idle)

According to your outputs, USB 3.0 hub controller on XU4Q looks fine.

What happens if you connect a mouse or keyboard to USB 3.0 ports?

It is very worth to clean the USB 3.0 port something like this.

I already cleaned it as i mentioned, but that wasn't helping (then).
I just cleaned it again, but with no luck... :(

What is "lsusb" and "lsusb -t" output with a USB mouse on USB 3.0 port?
"dmesg" output may give a hint too.

The 3 port usb3 hub is working on the usb2 port, where the devices are attached. (maybe needed to mention this)

With an USB mouse connected to USB3 on the XU4 and not the external hub :)

Also when i insert a device in the usb3 port, i should see a light blink fast, also if it isnt being reconized ?
I dont see any light on all the devices (with a led) inserted to the usb3 port.

I think the USB 3.0 power controller seems to be damaged by unknown electrical shock.
Do you use the external USB 3.0 3-port hub with a separated power supply?
It is worth to check the voltage from the power supply. It must not be higher than 5.25V.

BTW, can you please try the latest Ubuntu 18.04 Mate image(20180501) to confirm the hardware issue?

I will try the latest image as mentioned.
No the hub does not use external power and it directly attached on usb 2 port.
I used this hub as replacement of the lost usb3 ports.
There was no external device with separate power connected. (all the devices where usb powered)

Think i shed a tear, because with that image, the usb3 ports still don't react...
What are my next options with this recently bought board ?(think usb3 is dead :(
