XU4 Network Gone
I had lightning knock my power out and now the XU4-Q in my cloudshell 2 the network is gone. It doesn't show in lsusb and is simply non-existent.
Anything I should be looking for that can be fixed?

Re: XU4 Network Gone
Make sure to disconnect all power from it for a while to let caps discharge - maybe it helps. If an overvoltage came through the ethernet cable, most likely it burned the ethernet phy controller. Same thing happened to me ages ago when lightning fried my modem...
Also, check your switch/router for damage...

Switch is good, my power was off for hours so no help with the caps. Damnmad_ady wrote:Make sure to disconnect all power from it for a while to let caps discharge - maybe it helps. Can I use an XU3 Lite with the CloudShell 1/2? I know it won't fit in the case but will it work?

I think it would work, but you have only 100Mbps etherney
Also usb3 is not A and you need an adapter.
Isn't it better to add an external usb3-ethernet adapter? They should be cheap

XU3 has a single USB 3.0 port, no adapter necessary. It also has USB 3.0 OTG which is what you're talking about I think? I do have an adapter though.mad_ady wrote:I think it would work, but you have only 100Mbps etherney

Yes I will get a USB 3 to gigabit but until then I have an XU3 doing nothing. The only purpose of my CloudShell 1 is a tvheadend server running comskip after every recording (10/100 is okay), I could do this on the CloudShell 2 but I like having a dedicated device for it.

Forgot it had a regular usb3 port also. I remembered only the microusb port.
It should work within the cloudshell, unless the CS also uses the smaller header as well.

Re: XU4 Network Gone
I may just use the N1 with a NFS mount, I will have to think about it.
I have various other devices doing nothing but I need the extra performance for comskip, tvheadend could be ran without issue on of them but not so much comskip.
Would be a total waste of the N1 in some ways, in other ways it's totally suitable.

Well, you won't be using it as a development device anymore, so go for it
