questions about transmission

Unread post by korn16ftl3 » Sat Jun 02, 2018 12:28 pm

so im having issues with my transmission torrent client on my XU4 running ubuntu mate 18.04. This brought me into doin a checkup on the most current version and things like that, apparently transmission is on version 2.94 the version that is on the out of the box 18.04 is 2.92. I got to looking into updating transmission-gtk and the rest of the client and this where things start to get confusing. i clicked under ubuntu stable ( ) and i see all kinds of stuff. I know that the XU4 has an arm processor and it needs .deb files specifically for it, however i dont think i even seen a .deb for a direct download to update the client. Am i assume that in order to update im supossed to build it using the make command i see talked about?

I also added a repository using the following command:

Code: Select all

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:transmissionbt/ppa
i figured out how to add the repo from here: ... ntu-18-04/

afterwards i ran sudo apt-get update and upgrade and always after changing the repo list, it had said it updated transmission however under the help-->about tab it still states i am currently on v. 2.92 (14714) so im not sure that anything has changed.

im not exactly sure how to approach updating transmission at this point or if it is even available for the arm architecture but at this point im not sure what to do about it randomly just closing the program on me without an error or anything either.

is it possible someone can help to clarify exactly what i need to do to either update transmission or how to resolve the program quitting its self on its own?

Can you find a 2.94 package with "armhf" build?

BTW, I could download a few big files via stock Transmission 2.92 on Ubuntu 18.04 without a problem.
Did you update the system software? ... st-upgrade
