Debian Stretch issues

Unread postby paramedic233 » Sat Jun 02, 2018 2:58 am

Thanks for creating this new distro.

Cloudshell 2 lcd showing Ubuntu 9.4, and no IP address.
Unable to move OS over to HD using odroid-setup. It shows sda and sda1, but I only have one HD.

Ideas?

sda = the entire device/hdd
sda1 = the first partition of on the disk, if you have more than one partition it would be sda sda1 sda2 and so on.

do you have keyboard and TV/Monitor connected to the Cloudshell 2?
Can you login as root and check some files?

well if you're connected via SSH it HAS an IP address or else it you wouldn't be able to connect to it, right?
I don't remember what is used to show the IP address, but it's probably easy to fix.

Move the HDD, I can't tell you I'd need more infos. Have you selected sda1 as the target or sda?

:~# setup-odroid
brings up the menu. Select move rootfs to hdd.
Offers me two hardrives to move to.
/dev/sda and /dev/sda1.

You selected /dev/sda1 as a target for the rootfs system. │
│ All data on the device will be overwritten. │
│ Are you sure you want to use /dev/sda1? │
│ │
│ <Yes> <No>

umount: /dev/sda1: not mounted
/dev/mmcblk0rpmb: read failed after 0 of 4096 at 0: Input/output error
/dev/mmcblk0rpmb: read failed after 0 of 4096 at 4128768: Input/output error
/dev/mmcblk0rpmb: read failed after 0 of 4096 at 4186112: Input/output error
/dev/mmcblk0rpmb: read failed after 0 of 4096 at 4096: Input/output error
Can't open /dev/sda1 exclusively. Mounted filesystem?

So I try /dev/sda
You selected /dev/sda as a target for the rootfs system. │
│ A new partition will be created (maximum available space). │
│ Are you sure you want to use /dev/sda? │
│ │
│ <Yes> <No>
Error: couldn't create partition! │

│ <Ok>

well it seems the partition that is on the hdd is damaged and therefore it can not be used.

This is probably the issue here, so not the setup but the HDD and the partition are actually faulty.
You should delete the partition with fdisk and reboot and then let the setup create a new partition.

Fdisk worked, so THANK YOU!
Now on to the LCD issues.
I have to go to work shortly, and won't be able to report back until tomorrow at a minimum.
The exciting life of a Paramedic. ugh...

I don't know about exciting but definitely worthwhile, that feeling you get when you save a life has to be worth all the negatives.

It has it's moments.
+ looking at a grieving family and saying that we got him/her back.
- looking at a grieving family and saying there is nothing else we can do.
It wears on a person. Significantly. After 25 years I am really looking forward to retirement!
