Android Audio

Unread post by DeWire » Tue May 29, 2018 8:43 pm

Hi Everyone,

From my understanding of looking at the Android docs, Android only supports 2 channel audio (left and right), is this correct?

I will need to produce quality sound from my C2 for use in my car, but I have 5 speakers. My understanding from reading up on the forum is a device like the FiiO K1 ( https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01A73XG9Q/ ) could be used as a 'pre-out' to get the audio signal off of the c2 and then plug that directly into a car amplifier. Would this work? Would I be able to get 5 speakers functioning? My main audio source will be Spotify.

Thanks,

Dave

I don't think Android Audio-Flinger framework in AOSP can support the multi-channel audio USB natively.

I've ran this on my xu4 and gotten 7.1 full surround.

@rooted: no Sir I use the jacks in the front. Before I had to put a string in media profiles if I'm not mistaken but I think Oreo supports it natively. VLC MX player and Kodi all recognize 7.1 audio if provided.

Word! There's nothing like watching a Dolby/DTS trailer in your car where is near perfectly quite when not running and hearing each individual channel fire off. Obviously I can't have center and the rest surround channels going with out splitting signal and running them into speakers that already have channels pushed to it. Also failed to mention that hdhomerun app will play raw mpeg2 audio in full surround as well.
