XU4 w/VU7 Touch Monitor: SCREEN FADES and reappears

Unread postby jjfalck957 » Tue May 15, 2018 1:17 pm

Just got the odroid xu4 all set up with the VU7 touch monitor, but one issue. The screen will suddenly start fading to black sometimes when I interact with the odroid and then suddenly reappear again. Interacting such as clicking 'save' or 'cancel' in a window or tab in the terminal to autocomplete will cause the screen to fade.

hooked the odroid up to my desktop monitor and no issues, switched back to VU7 same issues.

XU4/VU7 hooked up through the HDMI cable and the MicroUSB into the USB3.0.

We are planning on using this with the DUO mlx stereo camera and that company has their own ODroid image to use, wouldn't boot, so I put(what I thought was) the same OS that came on the emmc out of the box.

Current OS: ubuntu-16.04-mate-odroid-xu4-20170731.img from the Odroid ubuntu downloads page.

This OS seems to be slightly and I was unable to find the Odroid Utility to expand the filesystem as I have seen recommend in youtube videos. Not sure if that plays into this issue at all?

Other thought is maybe I just need a driver for the VU7, looking online I didn't see anything that would indicate that is the issue.

As I finish this post, I see that for XU4 users using the VU7 they 'highly recommend' the Micro USB-DC Power Bridge Board(http://www.hardkernel.com/main/products ... 7426885273)
I am going to go head an purchase this board as it is cheap, but I can't believe I have put it under heavy computing loads and especially what tends trigger the fade outs.

Try this latest Ubuntu 18.04 image. The rootfs resizing should be done automatically in the first boot process.

Also try to change the HDMI mode to DVI mode via editing /media/boot/boot.ini file.
