Is adafruit Feather nRF52 Bluetooth is compatible with XU4 ?

Unread post by atarioldskool » Sun May 13, 2018 8:34 am

Hi all

Is anyone able to tell me if adafruit Feather nRF52 Bluetooth is compatible with the XU4 ? Bluetooth module via usb ?

I am looking to make my joystick Bluetooth and be able to play retro games on the odroid XU4

Please see YouTube link - I know the video shows it being made / connected to an iPad iOS but would like to do the same thing with the odroid
If it is not possible with this adafruit feather is there something out there that is compatible with the odroid ?

Which Bluetooth game controller do you want to pair with XU4?
Which OS image do you run on XU4?

Hi

This is the Bluetooth controllers I will be getting Wechip 8Bitdo F30, these should have no problem pairing up with the xu4
Lots of people are using them.

Original Atari 2600 joystick which is what I want to convert into Bluetooth and hopefully pair it up with the xu4 like the link I provided in my earlier post that is what I want to do, so I wanted to know wether the adafruit feather nrf52 Bluetooth board is compatible in working with the xu4 (Bluetooth receiver ) and also adruino programme as apparently you have to write the commands on aduino then transfer it to the adafruit feather board

Please see the link it will make more sense to you than me as I am not really clued up with stuff like this I can do the fixing putting things together etc but when it comes to programming I am clueless!!

As for the OS I will either be using retropie or recalbox is that what you mean ?
I won’t be using the xu4 for internet browsing etc may use it for Kodi but prodamrly it will only be a retro games console

Thanks

You can program an Arduino from the XU4, can't speak on the Bluetooth module but I can't see why it wouldn't work.

Generic Arduino IDE runs on XU4 nicely. ATMEGA series MCU has no issue with uploading the firmware.
But some ARM MCU specific flashing software are not compatible with ARM Linux platforms ironically.
You might need to use a x86 PC to develop the nrf52 firmware.

Thanks guys

Will ask more questions when I get round to it.
For now - I’m waiting impatiently for my stuff to arrive and get that working first.
