C2 DC plug max power?

Unread postby Strykar » Sat May 12, 2018 2:43 am

My concern for power draw stems from 4 USB devices attached each of which will easily draw over 350mA at load but no more than 390mA and idle at 260mA.

I have a bunch of new USB power supplies that can provide up to 3.1 Amps and I've ordered the USB-DC Plug Cable 2.5x0.8mm.
The description says "Note that you must check the voltage on the USB host between 4.75V and 5.25V at 1Amp load.".

The other power supply sold by Hardkernel for the C2 is the 5V/2A version.
And this indicates the DC plug can indeed support more than 1A.

I'm confused why the DC plug-cable won't support more than 1A? Will it start to burn at 3A?
Can I use a USB 5V/3.1A power supply with this cable?

Yes, you can use it.
Even a 5V/100A PSU should be fine since ODROID board draws the current as much as it needs only.

If you use the DC barrel jack as a power source, don't forget to remove the J1 jumper.
