Good C2 case with a fan and correct power socket hole?

Unread post by alexz » Fri May 11, 2018 5:58 pm

I just received my C2 and also some clear case from Amazon that stated C2 compatibility.

However, to my surprise, the power socket is well under the plastic and doesn't match the original video hole position.
It seems that all "C2 compatible" cases are essentially RPi and would have the same problem.

Is there a case that fully matches C2, including the power connection?
It would have to be an actively cooled one as otherwise the temperatures on this board easily hover to almost 70C at pretty light load...

So, is there a good case that you would recommend - with a correct power hole and a fan?

Can't help you with the case, but you can get the temperature down 12-15C if you
1. remove the J1 jumper
2. Change to ondemand governor.
My hottest c2 runs at about 52C.

Our official C2/C1 cases have no issue with the DC plug and jack.

The official C2 case works great. I use the DC plug and jack and have removed the J1 jumper for low power consumption. My C2 has been running non-stop for over a year and I haven't needed a fan as I haven't experienced any temperature issues.

Thanks everybody. Ordered the official case.
BTW, shipping costs on the website store are 3x compared to the same case shipping costs on Amazon, and it's also sold by odroid over there...

Depending on your location you can get the case from one of the local distributors (pollin, ameridroid, odroid inc, etc)

All metal option - https://cogent.design/?product=odroid-c ... -enclosure I use the older version and the finish is top notch.
Do you really need a fan? Is this going to be outdoors?

I was also thinking about a case upgrade until I read your post, the J1 jumper is doable, but what about "ondemand governor", can it be implemented using coreELEC.

Sure. Something like echo ondemand > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor

Lower power usage and heat generation.
